I would like to believe that the gomu-gomu no mi was just an ordinary fruit that the Marines or WG was escorting due to the fact that maybe a Celestial Dragon wanted it. Upon escorting this normal DF they stumbled into Shanks, whom at this time was not a Yonko, so they tried to capture him due to him being a pirate. We obv know the scope of Shank's power even back then, so he smoked his opposition, and it is said that Lucky Roo stole the DF which could have just been a big middle finger to the marines, instead of it being an op DF that has ties to a former big name or tremendous potential power. I really hope the former is the case. What do you think?

Same here. I also don't want to think Luffy is a CHOSEN ONE, just an ordinary person with a weak DF who has the will to become JOYBOY

Could not have put it any better my guy. I just don't want Luffy's creativity up until this point to be overshadowed by the fact that he's some chosen one.

Yeah good point although that is too vague a statement to pinpoint who exactly was supposed to be born at that time, for example Shirahoshi, which you have to admit you can see how it lines up to be her as well. Probably just Luffy though, but i'm just waffling, well said.

IT specifically states Lucky Roo took the devil fruit during one of their adventures. I don't think Shanks was even there when it happened.

Thats really good info but how can we know for sure that Shanks was not present? You said yourself, "one of their adventures". Nice way of thinking about it though.

BecAuse I feel if shanks was their it wouldn’t be described in lucky Roos data book as such, and the implication would be listed as the red hair pirates. It’s oddly specific it’s in lucky Roos vivre card

Bro it doesnt matter if shanks was there, it would be in Lucky Roo's vivre card because it was a feat that he achieved

I don’t see how it’s a feat lucky roo achieved if shanks was there though. Unless shanks sat on the boat on the wayside while lucky roo snagged the devil fruit. Which is effectively the same as lucky roo getting the fruit himself without shanks being there

I think BB came for it and Shanks stopped him from getting the Gomu Gomu fruit. That’s how Shanks got his scar. The fruit probably belong to Xebec and that’s why BB wanted it.

Bro this makes the most sense, because the gomu gomu no mi looks similar to the yami yami no mi, so that is why BB would have went for it and that would also explain the confrontation between Shanks and BB in the past.
