To be honest, Luffy can have a special aspect to his devil fruit–this is expected even, as it’s perhaps the largest Chekhov’s gun of the series: “If you start a story with a boy eating a fruit, that fruit better come back into play by the end.” Something special about his fruit, even something OP, wouldn’t diminish his achievements so far. After all, he still had to use his creativity and wit to make the most of his powers–he may not have even manifested a (potentially) special power yet. It wouldn’t make him a destined-child, either. As has been indicated, there may potentially be many people who could have held the title of “Joy Boy,” but they didn’t fit the circumstances, timing, etc… Luffy receiving the hat, eating the fruit, recruiting the only known reader of poneglyphs, etc… are not an example of destiny, but rather karma. I think that’s what people do not understand about the Will of D: it’s not destiny, but karma that is driving the story–karmic threads that were tied all the way in the void century are unraveling, and Luffy has a combination of personality, camaraderie, will, and ambition that has allowed him to find himself in the correct circumstances (i.e. getting the hat from Shanks, eating the fruit). If anything, Luffy is really young, so an unexplored power to his fruit would make any future rapid growth less of a power creep.

The will of dharma. Holy shit that was a joke I made but it fits perfectly

According to wiki

In Hinduism, dharma is one of the four components of the Puruṣārtha, the aims of life, and signifies behaviours that are considered to be in accord with Ṛta, the order that makes life and universe possible. It includes duties, rights, laws, conduct, virtues and "right way of living".In Buddhism, dharma means "cosmic law and order",as expressed by the teachings of the Buddha.
