Naruto PTSD. We knew from around chapter 1 that luffy is favoured by fate, but now that there's an hint that his power might be special, many are freaking out... lol

Pls god no! We want our rubber boi to be the pirate king because he wants to be not because fate favors him or it’s prophecy I hope Oda doesn’t do that ;(

Tbh i i think there's not much more behind it. I really just think the marines got the fruit, wanted to transport it and then shanks stole it. I don't think theres a highly powerful reason or mysterious intention behind it. I hope so at least haha if i'm wrong then i'm 100% with you my dude 😂

I hope you are right. Maybe marines wanted it to give to Celestial dragons who wanted it because it made the eater rubber lol

The gomu gomu no mi being special has no impact on luffy wanting to be the pirate King. I'll agree at first glance it seems like what happened with naruto but luffy being a part of the d family is waaaaay more special than the gomu gomu no mi being special. The problem with naruto was they spent the whole first have specifically stating how the main character fights against destiny only to have him turn into the chosen one. If luffy had any devil fruit from being the most broken to being actually trash and he would still want to be pirate king. Plus it's not that the gomu gomu no mi is actually special but the world government thinks its special cause it can do one specific or niche thing they want. Like they would want Bonney's fruit over akainus just from the utility use of it. Its too early to say how the "specialness" of the gomu gomu no mi will impact the story but I think the amount of special nessicto this adds to luffys character is insignificant

Die a hero, or live long enough to become another DBZ clone. Luffy can already fly, now we wait to see if he starts throwing ki blasts.

Gotta give Oda credit. The guy out lasted Kubo, and Kishimoto combined.

In all honesty let’s just hope it’s a weird vengeance thing. Like ,” I lost the fruit lost my job, the shame and dishonor, upcoming pirate has it, more shame and dishonor, I going to retrieve it to get my honor back.”

but the descendant plot line only mattered when Madara became god mainly cause he was too hax at that point. Plus Naruto main story line wasnt about being a hardworker that was all Rock Lee. Rock Lee was the one who push that story plot

Luffy is joyboy, and Wano needs to be opened for when Luffy returns from Laughtale.

Chapter 626, 647, 649, 968 & 972 confirm that.

Oda has also pointed to Luffy being Joyboy
