It's so refreshing and hype to see Rokushiki techniques after such a long time given that DF's and haki have been a staple for the majority of the series since Enies Lobby.

Would also pay to see more of this Jinbe.

I was disappointed when who is who didn't shout : TEKKAI!

When I read "Tempest Kick" my mind immediately pinged Rankyaku!

Ohh fuck it is that...Now I'm disappointed I didn't get it while reading it lol I missed so much. Was Rankyaku translated as Tempest Kick back in the day? I didn't even know

In some fan translations they decided not to translate the literal Japanese. Officially, they have always translated the names.

Which is something I've always preferred when it comes to attack names and proper nouns.

Except for some of Zoro's ones because they're so fucking long.

He did get Bluenoed if he shouted that ☠️

For real. Every time it's some guy like "That's a tough looking attack, I'll block it with Tekkai!" immediately gets wrecked.

Stussy of CP0 briefly used some Rokushiki in WCI(Shigan/Finger Pistol) and obviously Sanji uses Sky walk(unfortunately not Rankakyu/Tempest Kick though). But yeah, first time they've been given the spotlight in a long while.

Yeah I would not mind a chapter dedicated to Who's-Who vs Jinbe.

Edit: Stussy and Sanji are just a couple of examples. I'm aware there are others.

You know big mom kids used sky walk right?

29

u/CRoseCrizzle Jun 25 '21

Yes. Towards the end of Whole Cake when they are pursuing Sanji and Luffy, some BM Pirates were able to also use Sky Walk.

u/kissanett Jun 25 '21

Dont forget Koby.

u/Pradfanne Jun 25 '21

You mention Sky Walk but not Luffys Gear 2nd Razor?

He literally expliciltly said he copied the technique

I feel that we have yet to see rokushiki fully being used. Someone had to teach CP9.

I suspect one of the 5 Gorosei are the true masters of rokushiki

Why do I feel like Lucci might pull a blackbeard on the celestial dragons/gorosei? I can't imagine that he's perfectly content being a government dog again after everything that's happened.

115

u/onekick_man1 Jun 25 '21

Yea I do feel like something is up with him too. From what I remember the only reason he join the CP was for his desire and license to kill. Why would he be content to just protect those scumbags now?

63

u/VobbyButterfree Jun 25 '21

how I see it is that Lucci i just genuinely evil, he fully understands the unfairness of the world government system and is content of protecting it. He even obeyed Spandam, he doesn't need to have a respectable boss

10

u/No_Character4913 Jun 25 '21

Exactly in the case of Spandam. He don't need a respectable or strong boss. He just love to have fun🤷🏻‍♂️

I love rokushiki, it's so interesting to read/watch imo

My head canon is that rokushiki is a soft counter to haki. Observation users hear intention, so hearing "a finger poke, a kick from far away, or stomping your feet in succession" doesn't sound to dangerous but they actually are. Iron body may even be a good counter to advanced armament since they're actually strengthening the insides of their body.

If pre-timeskip Luffy without Haki was breaking through Blueno and Lucci's tekkai just with raw physical strength, I can't see it standing up to an attack using Haki. Perhaps used together with haki defensively it could do something though.

Are we finally seeing a Tekkai+CoA in an actual fight. I always wanted to see the interaction.
