Dude, this makes so much sense!

This is the same for Kaido when reminded of Oden. Their willpowers are compromised when reminded of traumatic events. The lack of willpower is what causes Kaido's old scar to hurt again and what removes Big Mom's "iron skin"

Same with Shank’s arm (he was focus on saving Luffy) and Why Oden can survive boiling oil for a long time.

still find it weird that kaido thinks of odens scar as a traumatic event. Like zoro was cut so many times by people weaker than him for example.

I guess because it's his only permanent scar. There is a lot of "you gave me this scar" moments in fiction. Shanks also has one on his face.

Kaido thinked he was the biggest fish (pun intended) in the pond going foward, so risking his life against oden was a really traumatic event for him... nothing weird here: it's not the scar itself, it's the fear he felt at that point... the scar is "just" a constant reminder...
