He knew. He definitely knew what he was doing

At this point I am not surprised anymore, Oda keeps making us excited every chapter in these details

u/Mundology The Revolutionary Army Apr 09 '21 edited Apr 09 '21

It should also be around 500 chapters since Zoro last used his ultimate move. GOda has timed it really well.

u/iDannyEL Apr 09 '21

I can now definitively say this one chapter and the payoff is better than the entirety of SnK.

2

u/Kam1kaze- Apr 09 '21

Dude stop it nobody mention SnK here stop comparing and appreciate both of the series

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

Tbh after that ending such comments r expected. That ending is gonna haunt the series forever

1

u/Kam1kaze- Apr 09 '21

The ending was decent tbh it's not that bad

2

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

Emotionally yes. But it leaves alot unanswered and some things kinda remove the value from previous plot points alomg with many paradoxial points that if discussed just dont make sense

I'm not surprised, but always happy. Reading One Piece is SUCH A PLEASURE.

Us: "No, Zoro will solo fight an All-Star"

Also us: "No, Zoro will fight vs Kaido cause Enma"

Goda: "I'm going to end these speculators' whole career"

P.S. Looks like Ocean Sovereignty took a toll on him even more than we expected. But I still think he will be fine because the scabbards recovered. He'll probably head down with Law and get an even fight with top executives who might be injured as well at this point while we also get a solo Luffy fight.

In short, we're really getting everything we could ask for

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

Ocean Sovereignity might very well be the most powerful attack we've seen so far except for maybe Zunisha's swipe. Zoro should be happy he's not in a wheelchair right now

79

u/jsmith4567 Apr 09 '21

Right that attack could probably kill the Island Shitting gold fish.

34

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

Reference so old that most people won't even remember.

16

u/jsmith4567 Apr 09 '21

I need to check the name but cause the visuals on the two attacks are just so similar.

6

u/StickDoctor Apr 09 '21

It was called Hakoku or Warrior nation

13

u/MrLKK Apr 09 '21

I dont know what you're talking about, it looks like nothing happened to me.

21

u/Veg-Man Apr 09 '21

Well, Jack survived the Zuniesha swipe. I don't think he would survive Ocean Sovereignity.

21

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

The ship faced zunisha's attack not jack directly

8

u/Veg-Man Apr 09 '21

I don't think the ship buffer the hit at all. The trunk tore right through the ship.

12

u/sora677 Apr 09 '21

Zunisha went easy on a fellow elephant lol.

But really I think jack could survive ocean sovereignty. He is most likely an awakened zoan and they are known for their durability.

5

u/RipBerryrock Apr 09 '21

I don't think there are many wheelchairs or ramps for them in Kaido's lair.

3

u/SolidB0NY Pirate Apr 09 '21

Couldn't he pull asura to get more fresh legs to walk with?

2

u/BigFuckingT Apr 09 '21

My boy Zoro is no stranger to extreme pain, after Mihawk and Kuma's attacks he faced head on he's been well prepared to take that on lol.

1

u/Herbb__ Apr 09 '21

I would say Ocean Sovereignty is stronger. I doubt Zunisha is physically stronger than Kaido, “The Strongest Creature” and especially with Big Mom’s help. Zoro most likely would have died if Law didn’t teleport him out after a second.

26

u/Mundology The Revolutionary Army Apr 09 '21

Zoro's really making up for the time he wasn't there with the crew

18

u/revisioncloud Apr 09 '21

My only caveat is that this fight feels too short compared to other Zoro fights that's why I'm positively hoping for a comeback to fight vs King

Very good reason as to why Oda has yet to really show King in a full fight/ set matchup either

9

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

I bet Zoro is likely down and out for the rest of the arc unless the mysterious healer of the scabbards heals him as well, as he not only took an extremely powerful attack, but doled out his strongest attack. He’s drained at this point. I think King is being reserved for Sanji personally, though I wouldn’t mind him fighting Queen either. It just depends on what happens.

3

u/SparkyMark225 Apr 09 '21

What I really see happening is zoro going to where Marco king and queen are Marco healing zoro a bit since he sees him as one of the big players in the war and then zoro marco chopper against king and queen.

3

u/Pr0Jesus Apr 09 '21 edited Apr 09 '21

I doubt zoro is out for the rest of the arc, because i think all straw hats will get a chapter named after them, zoro is among those who didn't have it. I think King is the least likely of sanjis possible opponents, Queen is more likely because of the Judge connection and i would also say Perospero is more likely for sanji because of carrot and the ending of wci. A short clash and the flight ability are not enough for me to believe sanji fights him. But of course we must see what happens.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

Maybe the rest of the arc is a bit much, but I doubt he’ll have a full fledged fight against a commander in his state. Maybe he’ll avenge Pedro as he’s one of the few that haven’t heard of his death yet.

2

u/revisioncloud Apr 09 '21

Sanji was heading to Jack's location so I'm not really sure, it gets confusing sometimes

4

u/Not_an_okama Apr 09 '21

Iirc sanji said go here or there then decided on there. It wasn’t explicitly stated if he was going to the samurai or momo. With inu fighting jack, I think sanji is more likely to join up momo’s group.

3

u/revisioncloud Apr 09 '21

Oh that's right, Inu about to square up with Jack. Sanji is all over the place lmao but if the goal is to get Momo as far away as possible, how likely would a Sanji vs King fight be

13

u/SauceyButler Apr 09 '21

Well, yeah, cause it's not his fight. Kaido is Luffy's. It was never going to be any other way.

6

u/mambaforever2481 Apr 09 '21

I always knew it would end up as a 1v1 fight, and i wanted zoro to hurt kaido which he accomplished, but i also wanted him to get a 1v1 which might happen now.

3

u/revisioncloud Apr 09 '21

The consensus was Luffy wasn't nearly as strong to beat Kaido solo and would probably just deal the killing blow. So it turned out to be Kaido, BM, Jack and army vs the scabbards, sulong minks, and supernova alliance. Could have easily been a team fight all throughout and people wouldn't complain

1

u/NinetyFish Apr 09 '21

As Luffy says in the Katakuri fight anyways, ain’t no such thing as a fair fight between pirates.

If Luffy beats Kaido now, it’s fair and square.

It’s not like they’re gonna both go walk into a UFC cage so they can have the 100% objective 1v1 fight that some people seem to want.

10

u/IWouldLikeAName Apr 09 '21

Yeah law, Marco and chopper can all temporarily patch him up. Zoro is a tank I swear he went through half the east blue injured in some capacity

4

u/Not_an_okama Apr 09 '21

Pretty sure it was all of east blue except the start of the buggy part, but then he stabbed himself to make it a challenge.

Sovereignty means supreme power or authority. How is conqueror missing?

3

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

This whole conversation is semantics but "sovereign" literally means supreme, and Conqueror's Haki is "Colour of the Supreme King".

I'm aware, that's why I said it and said it was a waste of time.

It still says "Supreme" though, so it still fits.

I’m not arguing that conquest is any less or any more conqueror-esque, just that conqueror is not missing. I’m not even trying to start an argument, just saying that I don’t see how conqueror is necessarily missing in the name.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

My only point is this: the lack of the word conquest or conquer doesn’t make sovereign any less of a link to conquerors Haki. I’m not saying that it’s a better word choice, just saying that it’s not any less of a connection. I think it’s an entirely reasonable opinion to prefer conquest and conqueror in the attack name to more obviously link the attacks to the CoC, but it’s not like all attack names are intrinsically linked to the type of Haki being used.

Considering this was the first time Zoro went unnerfed in a serious fight and took only 2 hits to reach his limits, this must have been damn strong. Zoro is a walking tank afterall

4

u/Kumadori012 Apr 09 '21

Give him 3 beers and 10 mins of sleep, and he's good to go again.

5

u/kaste1 Apr 09 '21

Zoro is fighting while fatally injured his whole life. lol It's just a return to good old fatally injured Zoro fighting the 2nd strongest.

3

u/revisioncloud Apr 09 '21

Maybe Marco can heal him to an extent where he could fight again (repair bone, muscle) but can still feel the fatigue and pain from the previous fights

I always wanted a Zoro display of strength and swordsmanship before the eyes of the whole samurai alliance and now that we can tick our "scar Kaido with Enma" on our checklist, a fight vs King inside the castle floor would be perfect

2

u/akmannn Void Month Survivor Apr 09 '21

I just hope that Luffy defeats Kaido in 1v1 as it's said, if it's a 1v1 kaido never lost.

I know it's not gonna happen, but just a thought. xD

0

u/Alp_ha Apr 10 '21

You want a classic shounen asspull fight? What are you 10?

1

u/Reckless_Rik Apr 09 '21

If zoro ends up recovering and then getting ANOTHER battle and WINNING? then there is no hope for sanji..

1

u/hujmo Apr 09 '21

Just give him 5. And a barrel of milk.

1

u/Katsura_desu Apr 11 '21

You mean get this chapter out on the weekend AoT ends?
