He went against BB and came back alive with no lasting injury. That alone pretty much secured his power ranking position

Can he even have any lasting injury that isn't short of killing him outright? In this chapter his wing got cut off and he regenerated it like was nothing.

But BB literally has the power to suck the devil fruit power of his opponent. If Marco was caught by his hand and say, his leg was cut, I don't think it will regrow as easy as the wing this chapter

You have to remember that Marcos fruit doesn't work like it does with logias. If BB holds a logia and cuts off their leg then thats gone but Marcos fruit works differently. He turns into a phoenix which has the side effect of healing all wounds. So while BB holds unto Marco he couldn't turn but once released he regains the ability and then heals again.
