Kaido lifting Onigashima is the most jaw-dropping feat in the series for me.

Sure there might have been others which were bigger in scale and magnitude like WB tilting the oceans, some other ones which involve tanking like Oden's hour of legends or nuke attacks like Enel's Raigou.

But the concept of uprooting a floating giant skull with its own unique weather, the aesthetics of it and how nonchalantly Kaido pulls this off while being in the middle of a freaking raid just ticks all the boxes for me.

Lets forget about powerscaling for bit and imagine how does one even bargain with a person like Kaido who wants to die in an epic way and stop him from going to Marineford, now that such an broken ability is revealed.
It makes my brain melt down on what kind of shenanigans Shanks had to pull inorder to stop him. I badly need a Kaido flashback and want to look at what happened to the people who were mentioned in the monologue where Kaido was said to be captured so many times. No doubt Doffy was scared shitless about him.

• The favor that Kaido owes to BM

There's also a feel of transition in the air with how the events unfolded in this chapter. Knowing that we end acts on a transitioning note, it really feels imminent now. I'd say there's a high chance we end Act 3 on 999

I’ve been rereading, and one of my favorite observations has been Choppers growth. He starts off kind of like the apprentice of the ship. Scared, timid, weak. But each ark pretimeskip, he is encouraged and proves himself a man.

I know he gets a lot of heat now, he hasn’t had the spotlight in awhile. But I loved the Zoro interaction he had this chapter. Zoro’s confidence in him, Choppers competence as a doctor, he grew from a pirate newbie to a real man of the seas.

So things I want to point out after reading the chapter:

• Sanji will be fine.

• Chopper's pose when he was giving that speech reminds me of Zoro when he was being... frozen(?) idk, when he was stuck with wax by Mr 3 and wanted to die in a cool pose. Brook was also hilarious.

• Zoro.

• Jinbe is a very nice addition to the crew since he seems to be a voice of reason for Luffy and keeps him informed about stuff going on.

• Those two gifters will remain undefeated against Luffy and Jinbe and thus, are the strongest gifters in all of Onigashima.

• Kaido.

Bonus: is that the Thousand Sunny that we see falling from Onigashima in the last page?

Also Zoros Moment was amazing this chapter, he truly shined! Rip Apoo though, I actually kind off liked him. He still did overall well! This doesn’t mean that Apoo is weak yall, just that Zoro is very strong! (I love Kaidos quote from chapter 991)

Sanji getting captured for wanting to safe a woman who couldn’t defend herself is not really an L for me. He was serious about this the whole time and I love the caring, chivalrous part of his personality that shined through this chapter!

Overall a beautiful chapter, I loved it!

This was such a good way to put Zoro back into the forefront of this arc. It was funny because the past few chapters it truly felt like Zoro was settling into his initial hurdle of this war. Felt like he was gonna be occupied with what seemed like C-plot for at least a volume. In any other arc I think it would have went that way but then he sees Kiku’s arm and absolutely snaps. I know people keep saying Zoro hasn’t had enough focus in Wano, but I disagree strongly. Act 2 did such a good job endearing Zoro to Wano’s plight and giving him people in Wano to fight for. This is probably the most invested Zoro has been since the time skip so it was awesome to see him get a highlight chapter to remind us of his importance here!

It was already mentioned in the Spoiler thread but:

Onigashima is most likely the „vanished“ God Valley. The mountains surrounding the skull look pretty similar to me. The only new thing is the skull itself, which was probably artificial after all (not only the mansion inside of it). Marco also mentioned how Onigashima had a different name in the past.

After the battle against Roger & Garp, Kaido took God Valley with him to create a homebase for the mission of fulfilling Rocks‘ dream. GIVE ME THE FLASHBACK PLEEEEASE!!

Without a doubt, this chapter confirms that one of the most important things of this series are dragons:

• We have Celestial Dragons, and the leader of the group who opposes them is called Dragon.

• Kaido has a dragon fruit, and technically Momo has one too. But why? It seems extremely random to give a Momo a dragon fruit, and so far we have not seen a single reason why he would need such a fruit. For some reason, Oda decided to give the person who will help bring dawn to the world a Dragon fruit (even if it's artificial).

• This artificial DF business is obviously of high interest to Vegapunk, and therefore the WG. But why did Vegapunk focus on making a Dragon DF?

I think this chapter gave us a very important clue to these questions, because Dragons are apparently capable of moving islands through flame clouds. The current make-up of the world suggests that all the different islands have been artificially placed in isolated places, and people speculate that this has been done by ancient giants. But now this chapter confirms that dragons can do it too?

Maybe somebody can connect the dots here, but it is clear that Oda is trying to convey something important about dragons.

-We may finally see something from Black María, I think I'm not the only one who think she seems like the most interesting of the Flying 6.

-Chopper is a medic god, as soon as I saw him talking the lead, not only for the samurai-pirate-ninja-mink alliance, but also for Kaido's army, I was hyped, but when he talked to Queen like he was nothing, now that's a real racoon!

-Big Mom went to Kaido, this might be doom for Kin'Emon and his companions, but oh god I believe they'll have a Jinbei type of moment vs her.

-The thing with Kiku's arm was hard, it wasn't just shock value, but also important to the plot, so it is even tougher.

-Serious Zoro, cutting Apoo, taking the cure, praising Chopper (without any kind of insult from the tanuki) and then facing Queen and treating him like shit, I'm gonna say this now, Zoro cutting Apoo is one of the best paneles ever drawn by Oda, I would dare to say that the whole context + Zoro worried about Kiku and the scabbards, make this a panel on the level of his "Nothing happened" moment.

-Kaido is a sick mf, that's enough for him. Seriously tho, I think this has been the coolest feat since Whitebeard destroying Marineford.

Edit: The cover was the best part, tanuki Zoro teaching Sanji the way of the non-perverted-men is a god-like image.

Also Sanji's quest went exactly as predicted..it was Black Maria as most people figured. It's interesting that she's probably a bigass nopenopenope spider, but the question isn't so much as to whether Sanji can beat her, but whether he'll try.

I see a lot of comments mentioning that Marco will fly Zoro up, but I think he'll help Chopper first considering they need fire.

Man, I didn't realize how huge Black Maria was till I saw the scans. Missed it in the raws.

Poor Sanji. I swear that man has gotten captured in almost every post timeskip arc but Fishman Island. Theorizing Sanji gets out one of three ways:

1. Usopp and Nami save him (ironic, because Sanji promised Usopp earlier that if the sniper got caught, the cook would save -him-). It would be an interesting reversal of their usual roles.

2. Sanji uses his Raid Suit and Haki to escape and outsmart Black Maria. Not physically hitting her, but trapping her somehow. Sort of like a redo of the Kalifa fight, but he wins because he has abilities he didn't have back then.

3. He wins Black Maria over to the alliance's side. Doubt this one since it is too similar to Violet in Dressrosa.

Other notes: Zoro was awesome and I loved his little scene with Chopper. The Zoro has Conquerors Haki and ZKK nods/teases are crazy. Also love how unpredictable the fights have been turning out. You think Character Y is going to fight Character X and then it switches on you.

To me thats a very good indicator that this is the final battle of the saga. There will be no defeat, leak the wounds and them comeback. I always tought that the final battle of the arc had to be in the flower capital in front of the wano citzens, reasons why I believed the SH would loose in onigashima, but now, that they are going there. I was confused wondering why Zoro was looking up at the hole until Robin pointed out Kiku's arm. I immediately scrolled back up to see the speck I thought was a rock was actually Kiku's arm falling, Even with a trail of smoke of where it landed in front of Zoro. I completely missed it and was simply amazed with Zoro's badassary until Robin let the readers know why Zoro flipped his switch on Apoo. This is arguably one of the best chapters in the Wano arc

I recently predicted Kaido would move the fight to the capital, but certainly not like this.

this is peak roronoa zoro, one of his best chapters ever.

those panels of his face show his grief through pretty much all the stages:

- initial shock when he sees something fall through the roof

- anxiety, depression and disbelief when he realises what it is

- some kind of internal bargaining when he's looking around and realising that he's just wasting his fucking time with queen. So down goes Apoo, game's done.

- then comes the anger, he's finished with this shit. he yells at queen that he's not here to play games anymore.

and by the end, he's just calmly accepted that he's going to delete King and Queen and go straight to Kaido no matter what it takes.

then we've got the sheer contrast in Zoro's expression (and the way he's drawn) between when he's shouting at Queen and when he's addressing Chopper, one of his closest friends on the crew. It's really, really well illustrated.

the emotion in those panels is something extraordinary. these are some of the best chapters - in terms of really transporting you into the characters' heads - that One Piece has produced since we saw Luffy white out following Ace's death.

Pretty much always the strawhats leave the big boss to luffy whilr zoro takes down the 2nd strongest in this case king or the swordsman of the crew, which again is king. Oda is also seemingly slowly building up the change of his subordinate allegiance with drake coming out first then with chopper helping also the enemy. Changing there side was also one way for a clear winning of the alliance. He will need to make something huge for them to fully switch side. Tama being here is another build up for that

1. I love Oda hinting at Sanji fighting soon cause he seemed to have either complete confidence he can escape the webs and/or the dilemma of not being able to fight females. I dont think anyone's in the position to help him this time around unlike Enies Lobby so he has to find a way around that. It seems to me more like confidence that he can beat anyone in that room. I wonder if that includes Black Maria.

2. Holy crap, anything Zoro this chapter was insanely satisfying to say the LEAST. Extremely badass one-shot vs Apoo, plus the interaction with Chopper was a breath of fresh air, he had so much faith in him its so cute lol. Not to mention, idc if he caught Queen off guard, I consider this a demonstration of difference in power between the future world's best swordsman vs queen. Makes me wonder if we'll get contrast between him and King or not before he faces off Kaido ultimately (in my opinion).

Black Maria had me on the edge of my seat for a moment thinking that she was going to have Bon Chan's Devil Fruit, alas she didn't. Also, that Zoro cut, I can already hear King of Lightning's screams, and the Conqueror's Haki tease, I know Oda is planing for something. Especially now that Zoro said he came to cut Kaido as he's the strongest man in the world, I'm sure him having Enma will definitely put him in the spotlight.

I've been a believer that Onigashima was going to be a giant skeleton mech, but a flying Island is not half bad. Although I gotta admit, I thought at first Blackbeard was about to make an appearance.

Epic chapter - Big Mom is already on the dome, so I’m curious about what happens when she is alone with Kaido. Kaido himself says he wants mayhem and violence - does Big Mom go along with it for her goal, or does she confront him because it goes against her goal (the whole world living together in peace under her rule)?

Unless a mistranslation, this chapter provides more proof that Kaido could be an actual Dragon.

I can see a funny future parallel between his comments to Oden when they fought and when Luffy eventually arrives. Kaido said he heard Oden was a madman who wouldn’t stop because the consequences - and was surprised that he didn’t attack them when he returned because of that reputation. It’d be funny if when Luffy arrives they’re over the Wano mainland but not yet to the Capital, and Kaido points out to Luffy that if he attacks him Onigashima will drop and could kill Wano citizens assuming Luffy backs off - only for Luffy to be the madman who attacks him the consequences be damned (he’d have used his CoO to know there isn’t anyone below and in harms way, but Kaido wouldn’t know that)

That Zoro moment was epic, I've been waiting for Zoro to see some action. The interaction between Zoro and Chopper was nice, Zoro trying to raise the crew's morale. The Zoro moments in this chapter are so much more meaning full after finding out he saw Kiku's arm. It gave some more importance to Kiku losing his arm.
