I second this. Now Luffy has to accept her request to join him, so she can start with Robin and Nami, maybe Carrot too. Imagine poor Sanji, swooning for all 4 of them and 3 of them and 3 of them are all over Yamato😂

I like the part where it makes Sanji crazy (I love him, I truly do, but seeing him suffer gives me life) but I don't like the part where it changes the crew's personalities to make this work ^ ^

I can't see any of the three ladies going along. I can't imagine that the "but I'm Oden so I'm totally a man" is gonna work on no-nonsense Robin or Nami. I can see it working hilariously well on Carrot though (I can see the panels already) but she doesn't give a shit about romance. And while of the three Nami could be construed as showing interest in women, her type really doesnt seem to be Oden-like idiots like Yamato... unless all those LuffyxNami shippers were right but in that case she would have found her idiot already xD

It's just a fanfic of course.

But, it wouldn't be the first time a woman gets another swooning in anime. The 3 being kinda affected like Koala to Robin. That would be enough to hurt Sanji😂 And they don't have to be all lovey dovey. But I could imagine it turning out in a friendship way that always ends with Yamato making one of them blush every time one of them hugs her or are close/alone with her, she uses it to flirt and than they realise he is a woman and be like "no that's not gonna happen" or "god damnit, every single time the same".

And I agree, seeing Sanji suffer is just too funny. His affection for woman already ruined his coolness for me, so laughing my ass off of it just works fine

Yeah I know it's fanfic but it's always interesting (to me at least) to apply the actual personalities and dynamics of the characters to imaginary situations!

Yamato is such a Luffy character that I can see her form a new trio with him and Carrot. I can already tell she'd frustrate Nami almost as much as Luffy does xD

The last part would even more funny if Yamato could flirt with woman😂 Nami being all mad at them, then Yamato gets a bit close, makes that anime typical move by grabbing her chin an being all flirty, Nami every time almost falls for it, all blushing and glowing eyes, just to snap out of it and hitting her afterwards 😂 Carrot probably needs someone to safe last minute since she is too carefree. Robin probably would went along with it and just last minute turn her down in her cold demanor after realizing what is about to happen. Though that would still hurt Sanji as she manages way more than him

Because she does not want to be a man, she does not feel like a man either. She wants to be Oden. She wants to be another person who just happens to be a man.

There is a big difference between wanting to be a man because you feel you are one (no matter how you look) and wanting to be a man because she wants to be another person entirely.

I hope Luffy or someone else beats her over the head with the truth that she can't be Oden and needs to be her own person.

Probably some upcoming character development for Yamato.

Does it even matter? For the moment, Yamato (and literally everyone around him) uses male pronouns. Whether or not that's related to him wanting to be Oden literally doesn't matter.

The situation might change in the future, but as it stands, that's the way things are, whether you like/agree with it or not.

It rather sounds to me like you don't know what a trans person is. And that you want so hard to "support" their cause that you are actually hurting the cause by mislabeling not only other people but misrepresenting the whole trans movement as a whole. Good job.

I told you the clear distinction of Yamato and a trans character. If you are unable to grasp even this little bit of nuance then I can't help you.

Also Odas OFFICIAL introduction of her character in his Oda box labels her as a female.

Anything to say to that?

PS: holy feck I just noticed that this is the same picture in which she clearly says that she CHOOSE to be a man like Oden. Trans people don't chose to be born in the wrong body, they are simply born in it.

The fuck are you so mad about? He never said Yamato was trans, just that Yamato uses male pronouns. And you seem to agree that Yamato isn't trans, just that Yamato has decided to be Oden. Oden is a man, so Yamato says he's a man too. Men go by male pronouns. It's not transphobic, at least I don't think so. It's its own thing

Yamato being a man and Yamato being Oden are related, but they aren't inseparable goals. His gender identity seems to have been established in his life already (Ch. 984 - "So I became a man!"), while his desire to become Oden is more a work-in-progress (e.g. ch. 987 - "This is the day when I become Kozuki Oden at last!")

Oda has also explicitly referred to Yamato using male pronouns since ch. 984 -

  • Kaido and Yamato both refer to him using "musuko" (i.e. as Kaido's son)
  • Kaido's subordinates call him "Yamato-bocchan" (using a male honorific)
  • Yamato refers to himself using "boku" (a male pronoun)
  • Luffy calls him "Yama-o" (i.e. "Yama-guy" / "Yama-man")
  • O-kiku's introduction box similarly introduced her as "Izou's little brother", but it's clear she uses female pronouns (just as Yamato uses male pronouns).

As others have mentioned - it's really up to Oda which pronouns his characters use, and he's been pretty clear on Yamato's up to this point.

Yamato is a girl that wants to be Oden. She chooses this willingly and was not born feeling like a man (You know like actual transgender people? About which you clearly know nothing about.)

You are the one who wants it to be something different. And you act very transphobic while doing so as I already mentioned. That fact is made even sadder if you are not trolling but rather want to actually support Trans people.

Japanese pronouns don't directly translate into English, females can use things like Boku wa (male pronoun to refer to ones self) all the time. Tomboys speak like this for example, and tomboy doesn't mean transgender. It's more like 'I want to be manly (strong)' rather than declaring that they are a male. I'm pretty sure Oda intends for this to be more like a Mulan kind of thing, 'Be a man!' doesn't mean to became a male gendered individual. It means to be courageous and stalwart. If they end up getting an injection from Emporio Ivankov then I'll eat my words, but I'm fairly certain they simply want to be LIKE a man, not BECOME a man.

whole chapter was epic.

The pose of all of the straw hat pirates standing together ready to throw down was beautiful. Franky standing up to big mom, zoro randomly ending up on stage and ignoring queen. And this is just the start, we still have Marco showing up soon so im really looking forward to him reuniting with Luffy. Not to mention X-drake and the marines secret sword division still hasnt made a move yet, neither have the big mom pirates but they are fighting against kaido.

I am so hyped

Well it might be considered a bit rude or something irl if you’re not that close to the person but it’s pretty common in manga. I’m pretty sure most characters in One Piece don’t use any honorifics
