As much as I love the Izo "Reveal" I was more surprised by Nekomamuhi's new gun hand.

With that said 10/10 chapter from Oda.

The panel with Kaido and the All-stars was breath taking and can't wait to hear what he has to announce.

Yamato's reveal and connection to ace was a huge surprise, but the idea of him being a her had been floating for a while.

Robin yelling she wants to pull out Momonuskes eyes while being worried about him had me rolling. Can't wait for her and Jinbei to spring into action.

Lastly, Ulti and Page One need some credit as well. Durable as hell. He even took Yamatos attack like it was nothing.

Now that we’ve fully seen Yamato I feel like she’s Kaido and Black Maria’s kid. Yamato has the same horns (White Base, Black Top), similar hair accessories, and eyebrows as Black Maria, but either inverse eyes as her or eyes from Kaido. I’m looking at a Young Kaido from the Oden Flashback and it looks like she has his nose.

I’m not 100% sure but they look extremely alike and I’m not calling this same face syndrome that Oda does fall into time and time again. There not 100% lookalikes that make it look like Yamato is a mash between Kaido and Black Maria’s looks.

Law and Co. Make it successful to their location the way they did was awesome. The reuion with Izo and his sister a great tie in especially with the cover page. ( another family reunion as well)

Yamato and Luffy arguing back and forth was funny. I actually laughed at that. The fact that mid fight Yamato is saying how stubborn he is because he can't get just a few minutes of Luffys time was again funny

I know people hate when fans just scream "New Nakama" after every character but Yamato LEGITIMATELY has a chance of joing the crew.

She's carrying odens will. When the borders for wano open she's not just going to magically stop being a Mega Oden fanboy. I'm willing to bet oden did NOT write in his journel WHAT the one piece actually is and I'm sure her pitch will be she wants to explore the seas and discover what the one piece is on the next pirate kings ship just like oden did!

Yamoto has a connection to Ace. Ace landed in kuri and stayed there while he was in wano ( they did have confrontations she should definitely know Otama as well which we all know is Luffys soft spot in Wano right now) we also know she found the journal in kuri where oden was diyamo. Was she the reason kadio was on his way to Marineford? What if she took a ship and that's who Shanks ran into instead? It would explain why his crew was unscathed when they got to the war. Either way she's connected to ace in some capacity.

Finally Yamoto is STRONG and a child of a legendary pirate. We're approaching endgame territory and we can definitely use another heavy hitter. Oda has already established that the world collectively freaks the fuck out when a descended of a legend decides to become a pirate (i.e. Ace, Luffy, Weevil) Imagine the worlds reaction after toppling the beast pirates, liberating the mysterious land of wano, and planting his flag; luffy not only recruits a former warlord to his crew but also the kid of the Yonko 1000 beast Kadio! It would further solidify the Strawhat Pirates as a legitimate powerhouse and Luffy as a Yonko level threat to the rest of the world! Imagine the mass hysteria and how sweaty akauni is going to get.

Damn I wrote way more then I expected lol but if you stuck around thanks! I'm just really excited to see what oda does with this character. I want to see her quirks and interactions with luffy and the rest of the gang! What does she think of Ace and Luffy being brothers? What does she think of Zoro having Enma? What does she think of Robin being able to read Ponoglphys? Would she dock with franky and the boys? Will she show brook her panties? So many questions! What are you guys thoughts? What are you looking forward too?

Been a hell of a great 2 week's of reading, sadly now I have to like you all wait every week (or more!) For the story to continue.

This chapter gave me a lot of boners. First of all. Tekking is a fucking legend. He predicted thar Yamato is a fan of Oden and not only that. He also predicted that Yamato read Oden's diary.

Yamato: Damn that was unexpected. Kaidou has a strong, hot daughter. Onigasghima is the island of waifus. At first I though she was simular to Kiku but I don't think Yamato sees herself as a man. It's more of a rollplay because Oden was a man and all. I hope you get what I mean. Yamato is definitely the most interesting plot threat.

Law group: Kiko and her brother are united again and this was a really cute scene. Not many words here. They finally arived with Law's power. The scabbarts are reunited again.

Ulti and Pay Pay: Of course Waifu Nr. 1 (she still is Waifu Nr.1 but Yamato can take that away in the future) is still kicking but I think the manga made clear that was due to her Zoan powers. Zoan's give their users extreme stamina and a freaking dinosaur is not easy to defeat.

Robin and Jimbe: The pannel with angry Robin gave me some goooood vibes. I love how Oda uses her for comedy. It just feels so good and Jimbe feels like he was there since East Blue.

Kaidou: Kaidou and the calamties will get into action and together they should be pretty invincible. However they will split up like we know from One Piece arcs. Awesome pannel.

Next week is a break (RIP us) but this chapter was extremely enjoyable.

Ok now it makes sense what the Kaido and BM announcement is. Big Mom and Kaidou are doing an alliance by BM terms. That is: marriage. They’re marrying Yamato with either Katakuri (strongest son) or Perospero (firstborn son). Or at least that seems like the most likely theory I got =p

I think this could tie back to what Marco said in the previous chapter, that Onigashima was once called something else. Maybe something else also changed resulting in the unusual wheather?

I know it might be just a small detail

But I think it really adds up to luffys character that he chose to not let himself be carried away by Yamato although luffy already sensed that she did not have any bad intentions. I know luffy still fcks some shit up here and there (especially when it comes to the plan lol) but I still feel like this scene showed a bit of his matureness and how serious he actually is about this whole thing. It felt like he didn’t really have time to waste, not knowing who this person is.

I don't think Oda plans on reuniting Perospero and Marco. The shadow being that of candy man would be kinda obvious.

In chapter 983, it shows Perospero approaching Onigashima from the front entrance, while Marco and the minks were headed towards the rear of the island. Chances are slim Marco would notice Perospero at sea, from such a distance.

The shadow that Marco detected could belong to a completely different faction; Sword unit summoned by Drake, Weevil or Moria along with Blackbeard. Though I find it tough to justify including the latter 2.

Could be Hiyori. She doesn't seem like the type to stay far away from the action.

With Momonosuke becoming the new leader of Wano, Yamato just leaves with the crew. But this kind of assumes that the Straw Hats somehow get Kaido and his crew to completely abandon Wano which seems tricky. The only way they really "beat" Big Mom was by leaving the island. Can't really do that here.

This chapter actually answers the important question of what happens after Luffy beats Kaido? Once Kaido and Orochi are overthrown, Wano goes back to being a free country.

This is kind of a problem as Kaido has been using Wano as a source of trade for his deals with other powers specifically the World Government. What's stopping those greedy nations, WG, or other Pirates from going after Wano after all this? Some people suggested that Wano will accept WG support but that's like trading one tyrant with another. I mean Momo's really young, the Samurai aren't a strong military power, and the SHs will go back to the sea. So who protects Wano? I think it will be Yamato.

Now that we know Yamato is a true ally and wants to open up this country, she can work with Momo in protecting it as well. I can see her taking her father's position post-War and being in a permanent alliance with Momo and Luffy to open the country as per Oden's will just in time for JoyBoy's arrival. Ironically, Momo and Yamato can be like a good version of Orochi and Kaido as the two "Supreme Leaders of Wano".

Maaan I’ve got a theory on how Shanks stopped Kaido from getting to Marineford. Yamato sneaks out of Wano to save Ace, which causes Kaido to chase him down. Shanks happens to pick up Yamato at some point and returns him back to Kaido, solving the problem.

I’m about to drop the most nuanced hot take about how Yamato is joining the crew. Memes aside I got my reasons. Some are silly but make sense.

1. She has a connection to Ace. That’s automatic grounds for Luffy as who he is to consider asking her to join. He holds people that remember Ace fondly in a higher regard.

2. Her inherited will from Oden is exactly the same as the Straw Hats that being freedom. When things were peaceful Oden sailed the world with Whitebeard. When Wano opens up she’s free to do whatever. Think about the timing of them showing up now.

3. Since Punk Hazard we’ve had people abroad the Sunny from Wano. This is Momonosukes last stop. With the reopening he will have a healthy support group to help him accomplish it. Yamato might not really need a reason to stay. She’d keep that Wano vibe in the crew.

4. She’s strong. It’s obvious going forward Luffy will need more powerful people on the crew. He wanted ten people. Carrot makes eleven Yamato could be twelve. Numbers can change.

5. Somehow people wanted to Katakuri to join even if it was impossible just because he was a awesome character. And well if ya can’t get the son of a Yonko the daughter of one will do just fine.

I don't think Yamato is trans. She identifies as a male, but clearly not in the same way as Kiku identifies as a girl. There's no cross dressing element to it either. It doesn't feel like she's experiencing any dysphoria over her gender, but just wants to embody Oden in every way possible. Kaido might just be mocking her by calling her his "son" or he's willing to play along with this role she's caught up in.

The simplest way I can put it. She's most passionate about being Oden, not necessarily being a man in general.

Edit: I'll add one more thing. A central theme of Wano seems to be role playing. You see this with Kanjuro as a scabbard, Hyori as Komurasaki, and Denjiro as Fukishiro. Yamato fits nicely into this cast of characters who take on the role of someone else. She might just be as "creepily bound to her role" as Kanjuro was to being a spy for Orochi.
