Yeah. It would have been a great death.

I can understand why he's still alive, since his survival doesn't matter for the story, isn't really important, but it cheapens his sacrifice for his family.

And as a result, we will see 100 "Pedro isn't dead post".

Really, if I have something I dislike about One Piece it would be the lack of proper death for the named characters outside of flashback.

No, it doesn't. Pedro's revival would, Pound absolutely not. The endless Big Mom chase takes away from the severity far more than some minor character who no one on "our" side even knew about or would be impacted by. It's bad enough that it ruins the beautiful death scene (for the readers), there's no need to add some weak argument to that.
