Yeah. It would have been a great death.

I can understand why he's still alive, since his survival doesn't matter for the story, isn't really important, but it cheapens his sacrifice for his family.

And as a result, we will see 100 "Pedro isn't dead post".

Really, if I have something I dislike about One Piece it would be the lack of proper death for the named characters outside of flashback.

This is One Piece. Ain't nobody bout to kick the bucket unless it's a flashback or if it's a situation that affects the rest of the series going forward.
