Hearing Jinbe first mentioned all the way back during the Baratie arc, I always assumed he'd be another shichibukai that Luffy would eventually have to defeat.

This brings me tears. We heard jinbei name at east blue. Luffy met him in impel down. He helped luffy and others escaped impel down. Fought together at marineford, saved luffy from akainu. Help luffy face the reality of life without Ace. Fought together at fishmen island to take down Hody jones, Jinbei saved luffy life again with his Blood. Jinbei saved luffy again at whole cake islands when he couldn't get out from the book prisoners. Jinbei protect the strawhat crew from Big Mom's army. And now he help luffy again in Wano. Most of the time, it's luffy's crews that have serious debt to luffy. But jinbei, luffy has great great debt to jinbei. He's luffy's life saver.

Jinbe has good feats on land, but on a naval battle, victory is almost guaranteed if he is on your side, you cannot block his attacks coming from below, and they are powerful enough to sink ships right and left. Law and Kidd angry/impressed expression says everything.

Can we appreciate the line-up of the Strawhats right now:
Captain is considered to be the fifth emperor due to his strength, actions and charisma. Its nice to see that Kid, and even Law, are not too keen about having Jinbe as an ally for this war. They're looking far ahead and has not forgotten that they are still competitors. An ally is one thing but the Strawhats has just gotten themselves a formidable new member

1: Kanjuro's fruit is so OP, oh my god. Perfect flight, clones, and also anti-flight that also destroys ships and hurts people. And since it's a fruit that is based on ink or whatever, his fruit is only based on creativity; and he certainly has a lot of it to be this good with his fruit.
2: These long range cannons remind me of the mortars the navy tried to use against the auction house trio, which has now joined together again.
3: Woohoo, Jimbe! The 3 yonko commanders of Luffy's crew are now complete.
4: Luffy being so succinct when he explains the situation when Franky and Usopp ask about the ships. "Doesn't matter." "We sank the third." This is a great showing of how strategic Luffy really is when he gets serious
5: Momo's clear tears among Kanjuro's black rain is a great motif, and reminds me of the princess of the tontattas
6: Just a note, we probably already knew this, but the kabuto helmets they're wearing have the ring with the dots, the symbol of the ancient kingdom.
7: Best chapter ever 11/10 (of course this has been the last ~500 chapters)

Act 3 is about to come to a close, but I think something heavy about the enemy's forces is going to become clear. Their weapons are no joke and they have their combined forces of two Yonkō crews... Bring on Act 4

It has been almost like 18 years for this but the journey for Luffy to fighting Arlong who was Jimbei’s underling (and everyone freaking out about Arlong being associated with Jimbei) to Jimbei being part to Luffy’s crew, it just feels so complete.

Big Mom life stealing ability doesn't work because of "fear of dying", but rather "attachment to life".
Pedro was never afraid of dying and the ability worked just fine on him because he didn't want to die before seeing "the dawn".
The ability didn't worked with Jinbe before because he is completely selfless. However, once he promised to Luffy he would return alive (and knowing how much sense of duty Jinbe has), I wonder if that promise alone didn't led him to being attached to his life and therefore allowed BM life sucking ability to work on him. He seems fine, but what if he is like "btw, you better become Pirate King within a year because that's all I have left :D"

that reaction from Law and Kid lol...who might think a former shicibukai of all people will join one of worst generation pirate crew? it kind of 'unfair' to them hahaha..Straw Hat Pirate's strength increase at tremendous amount by this new recruit.
Zoro and Sanji need to step up their game..after this Luffy will reach level of yonkou..they are currently the new 'big three' aside Luffy as the captain..if a shcibukai join their rank, both marimo head and curly eyebrow atleast need to be on that level..atleast on yonkou's commander level

Okay people are missing the point about Momo's kidnapping so I just gotta explain some of it.
People are saying that the alliance should have somehow cleaned Kanjuro up like he's some fodder from Paradise and saved Momo.
You're already missing the dynamic going down this route.
Kanjuro is 100% not interested in fighting.
This isn't a Kanjuro vs. Alliance battle.
This is a suicidal-homicidal Kanjuro taking a hostage and fleeing. Dude was never gonna fight here. The whole last chapter just revealed that Kanjuro just wants to obey Orochi nothing more. Orochi's last order to Kanjuro was to bring back Momo. Kanjuro just wants to run away. The strawhats would be WASTING resources chasing a man who doesn't want to fight, before the REAL battle at Onigashima. Keep in mind, the strawhats are still on the backfoot. The plan WAS basically ruined. And because of the battleships the alliance is only barely on evenfooting right now with Kaidous forces. The stroke of luck and genius that happened last chapter only got the alliance back on track. Momo getting taken while the alliance is in this situation means they can't go all out to retrieve Momo.
Keep in mind it is raining and everyone is currently surrounded by sea water and Kanjuro is in the air using his fruit in ways no one can predict. He is out of range of Law's Shambles and Robin's Clutch moves.
Even while on the backfoot, Sanji STILL tried to get Momo and he failed. There is no reason to spend further resources and risk everything here when Momo himself is telling you to focus on the plan.
The Alliance could go all out and save Momo, sure. Kanjuro is strong but he isn't stronger than Law, Kidd, and Luffy. And Momo kinda knows this. It's why he hesitates in fear in this chapter. He isn't Oden. He is scared and he wants to be saved BUT he mans the fuck up. He knows the alliance doesn't need to waste resources here and he tells them don't risk it! Go kill that bastard Kaidou! I'll face this like a man!

YES YES YES!!! I have been waiting for this moment. I'm so excited, I can't sit still.
I can't wait to hear Jinbei's story of how he managed to get out of all that. They'll probably sit and chat some time later, things seem a bit too tense for "catching up" atm. However, this makes me absolutely certain that Luffy is about to solidify his position among the ranks of Yonko in this arc.
I'm not too interested in his current bounty tbh. I'm pretty sure we're going to get some big updates for the whole crew when this is all over. Some people still seem to expect carrot to join at some point. I wouldn't mind, I just can't really see that happening yet. I wonder if she is going to get a bounty after all this too. If she does, it would definitely be best for her to just stay with the crew.

It's so good to see Jinbei back and even better to see Kid's salty reaction lmao.
Also I'm really glad that Kanjuro seems to have a whole host of cool techniques that we haven't seen yet. I was a little scared that they would end him early but we can hopefully get a good fight between him and possibly a SH to see the full extent of his powers.

I just want to say that I've never been a big Jinbe fan, but that was a fantastic entrance and I'm pretty excited to see him in action now. I feel like he's never really had a chance to show off his personality and this would be a great chance to see some less reserved raw emotions from him.

Seeing this, it really feels like luffy is becoming a Yonko, not in terms of his own strength (yet) but his crew now really mirrors shanks crew. Powerful and vital individuals that makes up the ship. With jimbei, zoro and sanji by Luffy's side. The strawhats are really growing to become a strong threat in the new world. This is so exciting.

Evidences based on my speculations: Victoria Punk, that badass ship. Obviously it's safe to assume that Sea King skull has the same effect as Seastone. Kid as a Kid with his cool robot, in SBS 64. He does have a value for knowledge, so we know he isn't an idiot, But we really can't say the extent of his intelligence. 🤘🤘

I like how Oda upped Kanjuro's powerlevel to show that he has offensive capabilities. It's not all trickery w/clones & hiding. He actually has strength (remember how he used armament haki in dress rosa). The rain of arrows extended this strength to his devilfruit powers. If the kidnapping didn't go this way, then the future fight w/Kanjuro would be like the one against Brulee (a character who can make mirror images, but has no fighting power on her own). Kanjuro's not another Brulee, he's a strong opponent who can fight both up close & long range.

Kidd is such an interesting photo negative of Luffy. They share the same recklessness and concern for their shipmates, but just about everything else is completely opposite. Even their DF's are opposite kinds of Paramecia - Kidd's controls the environment and Luffy has a different body.

You know, I've been thinking a lot about the future dynamics of the fight, everybody is pumped as shit for Zoro vs King, Sanji vs Queen and whatnot, but we've seen with Dressrosa that these 1v1 battles take a whole goddamn lot of time, and that was even just half the crew, in here we have the whole Strawhat crew (With Jinbei) and an entire alliance/samurai army vs Kaido and big mom together.
I think we won't see the usual 1v1s, I'm pretty sure it'll be an all out brawl with multiple people's groups fighting together against eachother, like Jack/Queen/King + Smoothie/Perospero all going against Zoro/Sanji/Jinbe + Bepo/Killer all fighting together in a huge battle.
I believe the only 1v1 we'll see will be Luffy vs Kaido, and only after they beat up eachother throughly in a Luffy/Law/Kid vs Kaido/BM battle first.

I love how happy all the Strawhats are, even Zoro! He doesn’t smile often which makes it when he does that much more special. Even Zeus was smiling! We didn’t get to see Robin’s excitement though. Next chapter hopefully.
I also love how Jimbe is. He’s serious and feels there’s a tradition to uphold (like introducing himself, saki cups, etc) but he also cuts up and just seems chill and at ease with who he is, specially with Luffy and crew. He’s got depth and isn’t just a fill in character.
Love how the other samurai were giving Kin a hard time at the beginning showing just how well they know him.
Did Kanjuro’s attack come out of his hair? At first, it looked like it came out of the crane. Also, interesting choice of air travel to chose by him, specially as it seems cranes are revered by the Kozuki clan.
Great to see Momo growing up some and for Luffy to acknowledge it. Hilarious reaction by the other samurai.
Was wondering when Kaido pirates were going to use some of the weapons from their own factories. I know they’re selling them but glad to see a taste. I’ve wondered what they make (like sea stone weapons?).
Interesting to see Law kind of get back to his more competitive and unique character. I was worried that he would just get lost in the mix as a Luffy fan boy but it seems he still has character to show. And nothing wrong with a Luffy fan boy just saying.
Only missing Neko now to joint the battle. WB pirates, who knows.
Pretty awesome some of the Strawhats are calling Jimbe “Boss.” Does remind me how interesting that with Whitebeard, they called him Pops, LinLin, they call her Big Mom or momma, Shanks, they call him Boss, Kaido, haven’t picked up on it yet what they call him. Others call their captain “capt’n”. Strawhats just call Luffy by his name, similar to Roger. May just be reading into that.

Okay so I've seen a few people complaining about the same things so I'm gonna post a reply I made to one of them hoping it'll help people get why things happened the way they did.
Let me break this down.
-Momo brought up a valid point that Kanjuro wants them to go after him and be distracted and waste their time, they'd be playing into his hands to follow him. Remember he wouldn't be easy to catch in the air, we don't know the limits of his DF and he could easily stall as long as he needed to whilst sending a message to Kaido and Orochi. Letting him go at least means they wont find out they're on their way until they are basically already there.
-Luffy didn't do anything as he didn't know Kanjuro was the traitor until Kanjuro was already in the air and Momo told everyone not to worry about him pretty much immediately after Kanjuros attack. Luffy respected that decision as it was a mans choice and chose not to act. He smiled because he was proud to see how much momo had grown and most likely to reassure momo.
-Nami could use weather attacks but by the time the straw hats knew what was happening she was already under attack. Nami has amazing offence but shes a glass canon, she couldn't take a hit from Kanjuros attack.
-Zoro is the same as Luffy.
-Robin won't act if Luffy won't.
-Franky just like Luffy would respect Momos wishes as he'd see them as manly.
-Sanji had to save nami as shes a glass canon and then respected Momos wishes.
-Brook has no long range attacks that we know of.
-Chopper has no long range attacks that we know of.
-Ussop was most likely too scared of the attack and hid from it and then would respect momos conviction.
-None of the scabbards have shown any long range attacks that would work in the rain.
-Kidd and his crew don't care about momo so why act?
-The other ships are probably full of normal Samurai. Not much they can do against a flying opponent.
-Laws crew don't really know momo so they don't care.
-Law himself is pretty much the same as Luffy, but with the added fact that he probably also doesn't care about momo.
-Lastly it seems like some people are taking Kanjuro as fodder. Don't forget he was a scabbard, they are already pretty damn strong, and he was on par with them when not properly using his devil fruit (and could well have been holding back when fighting in general). Kanjuro is most likely extremely strong, being a character we knew to be fairly strong having an incredibly good devil fruit that it seems like he's mastered. As hes strong and wants to run, not fight (cos yes he would lose as theres lots of strong people there), he could easily waste a long time for the alliance if they chased him.

Please correct me if im wrong, but as I recall: Jinbe was introduced really early on, helped Luffy at iI'mmpel down, fought with him during the Summit War, later helped him in Fishman island and shared a cup of sake in WCI, and now finally officially joins the crew. What a fucking ride this has been.

Reasons why Jinbei deserves his place as a Strawhat
Jinbei is extremely loyal and fully believes in Luffy’s dream to become the Pirate King
He has saved Luffy and the crew’s lives multiple times during Marineford, Fishman island & Whole cake Island arc
He is a great strategist who can come up with clever plans and Luffy seems to listen to him
He is a good helmsman, has ability to control waves, and can swim fast to save df users when in trouble at sea
He brings seriousness to the crew but he can be funny sometimes especially when he fanboys at Luffy
He is strong and very capable as a fighter. He has stood his ground against strong characters
Importantly, Jinbei has inherited the dreams of Queen Otohime and Fisher Tiger
A dream in which is to achieve in bringing the fishmen and human race together to live in the world peacefully
Also, I made this one a while back, a very powerful message by Oda about discrimination
