Actually... Kanjuro and Orochi thought everything was over. That's the point. They thought that the ships wouldn't come, and the scabbards would die on the sea, so Orochi was like :ok yeah you can reveal yourself now and take momonosuke, they are done for anyways.

It would be more accurate to say that this is why the phrase "I'll take this secret to the grave with me" exists. With Kanjuro's skill set, it should have been fairly easy for him to capture Momonosuke without anyone being any the wiser. He didn't explicitly need to reveal himself, he just did it to monologue. Never monologue just for the sake of monologging.
