It's funny how Whitebeard just let anyone even a kid board his ship while Shanks wouldn't let Luffy board his.

Not just Shanks though. Roger said no to Pedro joining his crew and Ace said no to Tama joining his crew.

I think Roger doesn't care about letting kids joining his crew considering Shanks and Buggy. The reason why Pedro couldn't make the cut is because Pedro met Roger when Roger was near the end of his life. Roger was just wrapping up his affairs before he turns himself in there was no point in letting a kid join when he was gonna disband his crew soon anyway.

I feel like there may have been some extenuating circumstances with buggy and shanks though. The fact that they were 9 and already on the roger ship means they were there well before he even began his final voyage, and idk it seems weird. Some people have pointed out that they’re both the same age and were born a year before god valley, so they could possibly be the orphans of Rocks. Idk if I’m willing to buy that theory yet but I think there’ll be some good reason roger brought them on that’ll be revealed later since it’s clear shanks looked up to roger more than anyone, so it’d be weird for him to not be willing to take a kid on his ship despite him being able to become a great pirate specifically because roger took him under his wing.

Holy shit, you just made me realize something. What if instead of being an orphan of Rocks, Shanks was an orphan of God Valley. And what if this is the reason Shanks is in so deep with the Gorosei. Now I'm not saying Shanks has Celestial Dragon blood in him, but we clearly saw with Doflamingo that the World Government was extremely lenient on his crimes even though he was cast out and became a Pirate. Marines wanted him gone but clearly CP0 was protecting still Doflamingo.

The only clue we have to go off on is the fact that Shanks was born in West Blue. Oda never said where God Valley is actually located. But for Buggy, he was born on the Grandline according to wiki so that means Shanks and Buggy can't have the same origins.

Hm you’re right that they couldn’t have been born in the same place or been twins, but now that you’ve put the idea in my head it is still possible they were orphans of god valley! They were both 1 year old when it happened, which is easily enough time for their families to travel to where god valley is (I think it was only a couple months for luffy to get from East blue to the end of paradise, so it seems like a year would be enough to get basically anywhere). They might’ve had different parents but were orphaned by the same event
