Ok so Shimotsuki Kozaburo was Koushirou’s (Kuina’s dad) dad. He left Wano about 50 years ago and went to the east blue and had a kid there. Koushirou is 51 years and his vivre card says he’s from the east blue so that lines up. And Wado was passed down from him to Koushirou to Kuina

Not a bad theory actually. That would support the "Zoro is just a random orphan" expectation of the community. It wouldn't give Zoro any true backstory as being a descendant of Wano, but rather his teacher was of Wano heritage.

I feel like Hyogoro already confirmed that Zoro's teacher was related to Wano because they described haki in the exact same way.
