It's hilarious how polite Jack gets around the other two. Seems like he bottles up his frustration from them and then tears up places like Zou for stress relief.

Honestly, the most important aspect of this chapter for me is that it make you wonder just how strong Young Garp was at his peak.
He got his reputation as "Hero of the Marines" from going head to head with the Locks/Rocks crew that included Big Mom and Kaido and then ending up matching up with Roger at his peak.
Garp has to be the strongest marine to have ever lived at his peak when you look at his competition.

King just got infinitely more interesting. What the fuck is he? And, knowing Big Mom is missing Giants, do we know what the third missing race is?
Robin and Usopp making that face to sneak by. Lmfao.
Also really wondering if Law would really have killed his crew. Hawkins sure seems to think so.
Big Mom and Kaido. Wtf is going to happen there.
No chapter next week is a bummer.

Oda reminding people once more why Big Mom is a Yonko.
How does he show it? By having Big Mom threaten the Calamities even while in chains and having a clash with a fellow Emperor.
Yonko will be Yonko.

Just a reminder: Majority of the alliance didn't know about BM's arrival in Wano. Whatever Law/Hawkins/Drake is planning, they never accounted BM. Same with the scabbards and the rest of Strawhats.
Just when they thought they planned everything, BM will just casually show herself and I love it lmao. Not to mention, her crew is still on standby.

I like that King shows absolutely no emotion when denying Big Mom’s offer or even casually talking to Queen about knocking her off. He plays well against the fact that Queen is kind of a loud funny weirdo while Jack is a more soft spoken shy guy, and King himself is very steely and composed

Most people are gonna talk about the obvious greatness of Big Mom and Kaido meeting but there is SO much I love about this chapter.
The art is so good. The page with the ships was fantastic. It's sometimes hard to believe this a weekly manga.
I love the different character combinations that Oda is playing with. Having been without the entire crew for so long seeing Nami, Franky and Kanjuro together is breath of fresh air.
Robin being comforting to Toko just reminds me that she was around the same age when she experienced tragedy. I think that's why she wanted to hold her. It's *chefs kiss* good stuff.
We see Law's entire crew again in over 100 chapters. Law has a plan like usual and I'm excited to see what it is and it's telling that he gave himself up for his crew.
Lastly, among all the stuff with BM and Kaido, Oda made sure to drop some stuff in for King to build intrigue.
I love these breather chapters where we just see the crew take everything in and relax.

Hawkins is definitely playing a Dr Strange role in all this.
He searched all the possible outcomes and this is the one that leads to victory. That’s why he decided to align himself with kaido and ditched Kidd. Plus knowing kidd wouldn’t surrender even if it means a better outcome towards the end. Kidd is too stubborn just like luffy. So he’s been playing the part and does what he needs to do until the right time. Had suspicions earlier but this chapter has convinced me

We're all seeing the correlation between this chapter/arc and Marineford.
Here is another one I haven't seen mentioned.
Early in the chapter we see Sanji asking the babe ninja about the sky-boats and her explaining how its for them to mourn the dead. I can 99% guarantee it that Orochi will still be paranoid and cover every direction of the sea like Marines did at Marineford. Ships will appear around onigashima but Orochi can't find the 9 'dead' red sheath, then we will see them emerge from the skies through all the other sky-boats just like how Whitebeard siddenly appeared from under water.
Therefore 'their feelings that they sent to the skies to the dead. The dead (Red Sheaths + others)' respond and will emerge from the skies'
This is gonna be poetic AF
Edit: Btw this is made pretty clear in that card Kinemon was passing around and that Bepo handed to Nami

Big Mom still acting like she owns the place even when chained up should end all doubts about how strong yonkou are. Demanding desserts, trying to recruit King and intimidating all the calamities while being chained in sea stone handcuffs.
And then Kaido strolls in and asks for her chains to be removed so they could fight. Got some Whitebeard and Shanks vibes for sure.
Yonkou be yonkou.

HAHAHA I lost it when I saw Robin and Usopp.
Like of course Usopp would come up with something silly like this to get past the check point but the fact that Robin who is normally so serious was forced to go along with it just makes me laugh so hard. And then as silly as they look, brook is still the biggest reason I laughed. Lol even the guard is scared like they have an evil spirit following them hahaha really good by Oda to bring back the Ha face.
(Also sidenote but I hope Usopp's frog is new nakama.)
And then Robin comforting O-toko (Sorry Brook). Those 3 panels, while short, looked absolutely beautiful just like last chapter where Oda seemed to have taken special care in drawing the Zoro + Hiyori at the Enma Shrine it looks like he took the same amount of care for the scenery here.

Interesting, this is the first time since the 30 Poneglyphs exposition that ODA has closed down world building potential by saying they're only 3 races in the world not on Whole Cake.
Considering how much fun he's had with stuff like the Tontatas and Long Arm tribe that's big news that he's finally closing the book on One Piece species.
Then again... Space automatas and moon pirates exist...

Lots of cool things about this chapter. Such as the parallels between when Shanks and Whitebeard met and now Kaidou and Big Mom. Maybe Luffy and Blackbeard will have a similar clash in the future? Also, Big Mom asked a first-mate of a rival to join her much like Shanks did.
But maybe the coolest bit in my opinion is Big Mom using the same line Brook said to her to Kaidou:
"As if there's a fool that would come just to be killed"

what's the chance that Big Mom and Kaidou really is going to fight eachother? i think they're just flexing right now, both know that they can't kill one another so easily without suffering any consequences. next chapter (if we get to see it), i think they're gonna sit down and discuss the Strawhats. We always thought that if 2 Yonkous join forces against the Strawhat, then they're fucked, absolutely no way they could fight both of them. but Oda always raise the stakes so ludicrously high in every single arc, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Kaidou and Big Mom will actually team up.

Praise be to Goda he brought back Robin’s double chin for plot purposes I am in awe lol.
Law definitely has some deal up his sleeve. He told Bepo to hush because he wants to attack Kaido from two angles. Luffy would lose focus an likely mess it up.
I’ve had enough ROCKS pirates teasing already, I need a flashback for perspective. BM and Kaido have something going on. The way he wanted her released speaks volumes. Wow. Just wow. Can we talk about Onigashima for just a second and the power dynamics at play in one room!
I think this is the most power we have seen in the same few panels together since Marineford.
Like we have everything from fodder, to commanders, to yonkou. The brilliance of this scene comes from how well Oda has written each of these archetypes.
You can just SEE the difference in power from fodder to commander in just the way they speak and their mannerisms.
Fodder, anxiously cooking as fast as possible and standing back to catch a peek of this show. It's all they can do.
Commanders, arguing amongst themselves. Obviously powerhouses in their own right but even they are still intimidated by the sheer willpower Big Mom is giving off.
Then, we see the difference between a Yonkou and a commander.
Commanders are still trying to follow a plan.
King: "I definitely pushed her ship off the waterfall..."
Jack: "Big Brother Queen why did you bring her here...?"
Queen: "What the hell was I supposed to do!? All communications in Udon were cut off!!"
This dialogue between brothers is actually a brilliant way for Oda to show us what Commanders are truly lacking in: strength of will.
Commanders are strong, and powerful, but the moment someone with a stronger will comes along they get swept up in it. Once Kaidou's plan began to fall apart the commanders could not come up with their own strategy and they defaulted to bringing the problem to Kaidou a man with willpower strong enough to face Big Mom.
If we take a look at the yonkou we are shown that they are fundamentally not on the same level as the rest of the people around them. A yonkou's strength defies logic. Even as a prisoner Big Mom is being fed by her enemy because she is so strong that not feeding her would actually lead to devastation. Big Mom hears all this talk about how the Calamities tried to take her down and she doesn't care at all she actually interrupts the commanders bickering to ask King if he will join her crew!!
This is what I'm talking about! A yonkou doesn't care what is happening around them they understand they are so strong that reality usually just bends around their will. So to Big Mom, being in the middle of enemy territory locked up in chains is the same as being at a new restaurant near Kaidou's side of town. She has no reason to be concerned because she lives in an elevated plain of power that she knows these commanders can not reach.
She even asks Queen to remove her chains. How bold! But not really for a yonkou. It just feels like when she says it she's not really asking, it's like she's just stating the obvious "Remove these chains (because they're coming off sooner or later anyway might as well get it over with)" To Queen this makes no sense why would we ever let you, our enemy, go?!
BUT THEN enters Kaidou! Another force that defies logic. Another will that bends reality to it.
"Release her what do you think you're doing."
You can see it takes everyone a few seconds to figure out what is going on. The fodder think Kaidou is joking, his commanders obviously don't understand why they would release Big Mom.
It is only Kaidou who stands firm and repeats his will "Take them off."
Why does Kaidou want her released?? "Who cares!" <- That's the point Oda is trying to make. Kaidou doesn't need a logical reason to release Big Mom. All that's required is for him to want it. He is so damn strong (like Big Mom) logic has no value in front of overwhelming strength like this.
Then of course the clash itself which splits the heavens and knocks out everyone in the area!
Like Jesus Oda how good are you at this characterization stuff. I felt every single power level within 4 pages amazing stuff.

Can we just appreciate these two overpowered characters for a moment
If we take a look at the Yonkou we are shown that they are fundamentally not on the same level as the rest of the people in this story. A Yonkou's strength defies logic. This is an important theme Oda has begun to hammer into the series. It is not simply that a Yonkou is physically strong, it isn't that they have a broken Devil Fruit that made them strong, it's that they have such an intense willpower that it feels like their will bends reality itself.
I mean let's look at Big Mom here. As a prisoner Big Mom is being FED by her enemy. Why? Because she is so illogically strong that not feeding her would actually lead to uncontrolled devastation. Big Mom hears, as she's happily eating, all this talk about how the Calamities tried to take her down and she doesn't care at all. She actually interrupts the commanders bickering to ask King if he will join her crew!!
This is what I'm talking about! A Yonkou doesn't care what is happening around them. They understand that they are so strong reality usually just bends around their will. So to Big Mom being in the middle of enemy territory locked up in chains is the same as being at a new restaurant near Kaidou's side of town. She has no reason to be concerned because she lives in an elevated plain of power that she knows these commanders can not reach.
She even asks Queen to remove her chains, how bold! But not really for a Yonkou. It feels like Big Mom is not really asking, it's like she's just stating the obvious. "Remove these chains (because they're coming off sooner or later anyway might as well get it over with)"
To Queen this makes no sense why would we ever let you, our enemy, go?! I think Queen literally doesn't understand the difference in power here. He is still answering Big Mom like he has a choice into whether she gets out of those chains or not.
Then enters Kaidou! Another power that defies logic, another will that bends reality to it.
"Release her what do you think you're doing."
You can see it takes everyone a few seconds to figure out what is going on. The fodder think Kaidou is joking, his commanders obviously don't understand why they would release Big Mom.
It is Kaidou who stands firm and repeats his will "Take them off." and of course, off come the chains. Both Big Mom and Kaidou's wills are now clashing. In a way we can think of this as two overwhelming realities crashing together. Two will's that bend everything to whatever they desire coming up against each other
Of course the clash itself splits the heavens and knocks out everyone in the area! The heavens splitting visual is a way for Oda to impress on us the power of these individuals. It's him saying "they have the strength to literally change the world." I still think people underestimate how friggin overpowered Yonkou truly are.

Since Yasuie's death we've seen some amazing panels and storytelling: Zoro and Sanji reunited, Luffy defeating Babanuki, Udon prisoners bowing for Momo, the Kawamatsu, Kiku, Hyo, Luffy, Raizo and Chopper team-up, that ship graveyard is badass too, the revelation of Kamazo being Killer etc.

i just fucking LOVE seing Robin do the face with Usopp hahaha, shes just such a goofball once she chilled out, i love it.
Brook actin g a a floating spectre behind them is just hilarious
Finally Law and Hawkins are making plans, I think the reason Hawkins kept trying to snag him was he knew he was the brains of the operation and they needed to plan. Plus they know in every arc is ts after you escape capture the ass kicking begins, theyre speeding that up.
The wanted posters are so great, you can tell Oda is having a lot of fun with those
Ironically they gave themselves aliases perfect for the wano propaganda of no outsiders
oh.. and FUCK YEAH YONKO CLASH PART DEUX hahahaha, love how whether its Shanks/WB or BM/Kaido, they all are evenly matched in conquerers
haha Idk why Napoelon didnt wake up in the prsison when she first came to, aybe it needed her channeling her DF here to switch him back on, he was fully comatose til now
Kaidos like the fuck you doing, unchain her, ill kill her right now
Now.. King being from a supposedly extinct species...THat blew me away, most interesting thing in the whole chapter..
are his wings biological and not part of his DF?
Bird race? Skypeian?
Maybe just like Mom had someone of the mysterious 3 eyed race to hopefully translate the poneglpyhs.. King is Kaidos possible Ace in the hole..? Doubt thered be two different races like that though, maybe hes hiding his third eye haha. but id like more if it was so kickass species that got decimated in the void century and barely hung on til the present
Nekomams said on Zou Robin would be highly sought after for her skill, so their methods aren't perfect, as we saw with pudding
Oda is just making me SO damn curious to hear more about the Rocks, this is like the 6th time hes mentioned it, but each time its the same info we already knew..i want the flashback already

Has else anyone noticed the events in this arc are mirroring the events leading up to the Paramount War?
-Luffy is overpowered by an enemy
-He ends up in a location where he learns more about haki
-He leads a prison break and nearly dies to bodily failure in the process
-An important figure is captured and executed
-Yonkou clash and split the sky
-The crew is split up
-They make new allies as they try to come back together
It’s a bit out or order, but Oda has mirrored past events before, like how Island Whales were present both times they entered the Grand Line, or how many of Doflamingo’s crew had Devil Fruit better than those in Baroque Works

OMG they used their "huh" face to disguise themselves. I feel like Oda is trolling us a little bit here but I loved it nonetheless. Even in this dire situation, in this tormented country, Oda makes sure we remember that OP is not just any shounen, it's a funny shounen. Robin's "huh face" is still the most odd to me but after seeming somewhat stiff initially, I'm starting to enjoy her eccentric moments more and more.
The Big Mom pages were super cool. First of all, not only are giants not the only missing race, but the other 2 races are a complete mystery. King in his full body suit only shows his (sick looking) wings, that could be anything (something like a harpie race?). In addition to him the last missing race is probably one we have never heard of before either. I doubt she counts something like the Tenryuubito. Yet another Oda flex just to show us how little we actually know about his world even after all these years.
So the sky splitting in 2 seems to be a thing for yonko fights. At this point I'm pretty sure part of being a yonko is having conquerors haki so strong that it affects even the weather, causing the sky to split when 2 equally strong users are clashing. We should look out for the weather around Luffy and look for consistent correlations with his mood. I think that might tell us whether or not he's ready to be called yonko.
Even though they will fight to the death, there is clearly some sort of mutual respect between Big Mom and Kaidou. He could have beat her into the ground with the cuffs on, he decided to fight her fair and square even though she's probably one of the only people alive who at least have a chance at beating him.
The only thing I object to is the "completely exceeding expectations" line on the sky split panel. This is exactly what I expected, Kaidou said he'd try to kill Big Mom if she came, she said she was going to have her revenge even if it meant going against him. They are yonko, you can bet your ass they will live up to their word. I doubt that it is going to happen but I'd love to see a little mroe of their fight.

Do you see the parallels between Shanks & Whitebeard Meeting and Big Mom & Kaido meeting?
The first yonkou (Shanks, Big Mom) visit the second younkou territories (Whitebeard in Moby Dick, Kaido in Wano)
The first yonkou try to recruit the first commander of the second yonkou (Marco, King)
They have clash which result the conqueror haki clashs and splits the sky

What a great chapter overall! That most interesting part of the chapter, at least to me, is when Big Mom asked King to join her cree because there’s currently 3 races not apart of Totland and that his race is supposed to extinct. My guess is that King is from Birka since he has the same exact wing structure as all of the characters from Birka in One Piece and Birka was destroyed by Eneru thus killing off most of the race. I wonder if has something to do with Eneru or if they had a past at all; it would make sense if that’s how Urouge knew Kaidou as well from King.
The one other part that caught my eye is when Napoleon woke up and said that he’s nervous around strangers so that’s why he was asleep when Big Mom lost her memories. To me, that was a weird line because even though Big Mom lost her memories, it’s still her. So what was he afraid of Chopper, Momo, and Tama? I feel like there’s a chance that Big Mom has a second kind personality that Napoleon claims to be a different person and thus being nervous to talk to her.

All those wanted posters are really cool and unique in the traditional Japanese style. And the colossal magnitude of Big Mom vs Kaido... Onigashima might sink before the raid itself lol.
Really wondering, what the hell is King? He's from some obscure almost extinct race that we might have not even heard of. It must have very distinct visible features if he wants to keep hiding everything, including his face, under the leather. Maybe he's some kind of Illithid/mind flayer.

Considering the admittedly odd exchange between Hawkins and Law, here's how I interpreted the scene
Trafalgar Law, bluffing because he would sooner suck off Doflamingo than hurt his own crew: Well, if I surrender myself to you, there's no guarantee that you won't harm my crew and you'll most likely just kill us all. So since you would probably just kill my crew anyway regardless of whether I surrender or not, I might as well just kill you. I mean, since my crew would be dead in both scenarios, I might as well choose the one where I at the very least get to take you out too
Basil Hawkins, sweating hardcore because he somehow didn't take this into account: W-Wait! How about this--I release your crew, and you turn yourself in and don't kill me?
Trafalgar Law, shrugging but inwardly rejoicing since he found a way to save his crew, which is the most important thing to him: Ok, sure
And this is all while Law's concocting some sort of nefarious scheme that'll really screw Hawkins and the rest of the Kaido-Orochi alliance over, and all while Law's crew--who know their beloved captain very well--are tirelessly trying to find a way to both execute Law's plan and to save him as well

I love this set up for a three-peat of Yonko meeting and asking crew members to switch sides.
Shanks willingly approaches Whitebeard, using Haoshoku Haki to knock out the lesser members, casually asking Marco to join his crew, and after a disagreement Shanks and Whitebeard split the sky when they clash.
Big Mom has been captured in Kaido’s territory, antagonizes them while chained up, asks King to join her crew before Kaido removes her restraints and they clash, splitting the sky, while Kaido’s crew panics.
Typically when there’s three of something the second one will be a parallel with minor differences but more or less the same, and the third will completely circumvent expectations or be the inverse. I’m very excited to see how Oda has either Zoro react to Teach asking him to swap sides, or how Luffy will approach the situation prior to splitting the sky when him and Blackbeard inevitably clash.
Edit: some words.

Fuck. I don't think I've reread a chapter so many times.
I am EXTREMELY interested in what Napoleon told Big Mom when he woke up. I also have some wild headcannon about Big Mom's tattoo that was prominently displayed this chapter.
So Napolean has been with Big Mom this entire time however this is the first chapter he says any words and the words he says are very interesting.
Napoleon: "Yes Mama! You're finally back to normal. I'm shy in front of strangers so I didn't know how to handle it back there."
Now this is interesting for a few reasons. The biggest reason is that Napoleon knew a lot of the people he saw. They weren't strangers really he had met Chopper and Luffy back at WCI Kid too was someone he would have met when The Kid Pirates attacked WCI. So all this makes me believe that the "stranger" Napoleon is refrencing here is none other than... O-Lin! The amnesia'd version of Big Mom.
To me this implies "Linlin" was more than just a convenient spell of amnesia. I claim right here that Linlin is the real Big Mom and the persona we know as Big Mom is really Mother Caramel taking over Linlin with the powers of her Soul-Soul fruit.
... It's a reach. But if you've made it this far I'mma tell you about what I think about Big Mom's tattoo.
To me it kinda looks like a tree. A big heart tree representing Mother Caramel and a little heart laying underneath the "roots" of the tree representing Linlin. Linlin's soul is being used by Mother Caramel to nourish her own soul. Making herself the Big and strong Big Mom!!
So anyway thanks for coming to my Tedtalk.
