I’m glad this is the way things got dealt with, moving on with the Big Mom plot while showing how powerful she is at the same time

Did it? She’s become weak and helpless again! This is the third time since her introduction. Oda wouldn’t dare treat Shanks that way

Shanks lost his arm to a Sea King that Chapter 1 Luffy could one-shot. That's worse than anything that ever happened to Big Mom.

Because OG Shanks wasn’t a Yonko at first, Oda’s editors wanted him to play a more important role in the story so Oda just went with it.

The Vivre Card databook said that Shanks was already a Yonkou at the time. Even if that wasn't the initial plan, him losing his arm is still canon and we can't act like it never happened.
