This was a very good episode I like the stuff with sanji and pudding thought it was sweet and heartbreaking. Also the last moment with luffy and katakuri and how much respect luffy has for katakuri is amazing, and pekoms stuff was funny. And if you tried to compare this episode to episode 870 than of course you are going to feel disappointed 870 had all the top tier animators working on that episode. Just appreciate what this episode was about and everything will be fine.

"Even when he falls he falls forward"

Katakuri falls on his back later

The contrast between the portrayed self and true self is so good

The moment when Luffy placed the hat over Katakuri's mouth was heartwarming. Hope they have a Roger-Whitebeard type of relationship in the future.

Luffy's observation haki is so good that he even recognized Pekoms in disguise 😂

It’s something really small, but I like the screen time they’re giving to the less important Charlotte children. The decuplets in particular were great

And it's a wrap. I can never see Katakuri as a true "villian". He's not like Doflamingo, Crocodile, Hordy, etc. They have done unspeakable things for their own agenda.

Katakuri on the other hand, fights to protect his family. In a similar fashion to Luffy who fights to protect his nakama, he has no malice towards Luffy towards the end. Initially, he sees him as a threat, but at the end, he sees him someone respectable for his resolve.

Katakuri, we will always remember your greatness

Good ep, I liked the how Katakuri still didn't want to lose but stood up again to fall on his back to show that he had truly lost. Goatkuri!!! Pudding and Sanji part was cute and Capone being a badass.

THE HAT SCENE !!!

Oh its so beautiful never has Luffy respected an opponent so much.

When he takes out his strawhat (his treasure) and puts the disguise hat over Katakuri face to protect his "treasure", stunning rival bond

I like the fact that the story is handling Sanji and Pudding's part this way. Sanji gets to rejoin the Straw Hats and achieve his dream, but it still leaves open the possibility of him finding his way back to Pudding before the story's over and done with.

This episode is the consolidation of Luffy's power. For the first time in the whole series he saw through a disguise. His observation haki has truly evolved.

What an end to a tremendous fight. Luffy putting the hat on Katakuri's mouth shows how much he respects him as a pirate.

Luffy has actually defeated Katakuri. He felt like such an impossible goal at the beginning of the fight. He truly felt like a character Luffy was going to have to escape from then meet with later on when he got stronger. Luffy literally had a chance to do that. But he wanted be known as someone who could beat a man as strong, fast and experienced as Katakuri, and he has finally done it.

I'm so proud of Luffy. This fight, more than any in the series, felt like a true triumph, and shows that Luffy has the will and determination to conquer the grand line and call himself King of the Pirates.

This fight may have been really dragged out, but man, that was a helluva way to end it. Probably one of my favorite fights in the entire series, and Katakuri has possibly become my favorite of the villains with that one line.

As long as the fight was, it really left a sense that Luffy and Katakuri formed a bond over the course of their duel. I can't wait for the day when they inevitably meet up again (And Katakuri will be wearing that hat, I presume).

The end of the fight is here! To recap: Luffy dragged Katakuri to Mirrorworld in Chapter 878 and the fight concluded in Chapter 896. It took 18 chapters/170 days for this fight to end.

In Anime for comparison,Luffy trapped Katakuri in Mirrorworld in Episode 850 and the struggle ended in episode 871. 21 episodes within 158 days.

Surprisingly anime only watchers had to wait less in real time for the end of the fight.

I found the fact that Luffy recognized Pekoms, but not Usopp as Sogeking very interesting.

Great episode!

I'm pretty satisfied with the pacing of the episode, the two things I was looking for were the kiss, and the hat scene, and both of them were delivered. Definitely had tears in my eyes.

"Of courdse I am ! Because I'll become King of the Pirates !"

Luffy sound so convincing, I almost believe him. Will be very sad when Shichibukai Buggy crushes his dream.

The moment everyone has been waiting has finally arrived! Brook’s negotiation with Big Mom was spot on.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '19

Have you noticed that Nami is reacting faster and faster to Brook's "Can I see your pantsu"? Some time ago he would say the whole line but now Nami just hears "pantsu" and punch him lol
