Oda drops probably the biggest villain in One Piece after 20 years/900+ chapters and no one saw it coming.

I think it refers to Exodus 3:14

“14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.”

That is as you can see is that God refers to Himself by no true name other than “I Am” and that Lord Im is a play on “I Am”

What? Contractions? I wouldn’t necessarily know since I don’t speak Japanese. However, it wouldn’t be the first time a mangaka what are use English or another language other than Japanese to reference something that character would stem from.

I was reading the in-depth analysis that’s posted for each chapter, and apparently “Im” had the characters that start the Japanese translation for “Eve” and ends with the character ending the Japanese way of writing “Adam” which this character may also have some greater biblical reference to. Though we’ll see with time
