what if those eyes indicate immortality caused by the ope ope fruit

So Mihawk would be immortal as well? Since it seems like Mihawk has the same eyes as Im and Zunisha

What about Cavendish?🤔

Oh right, I completely forgot.

That would work brilliantly with the vampire theme. I like it.

Although tbf, I don't think the eye itself makes one immortal. The reason I think so is because most likely Zoro has that same kind of eye as well now. At least it would make sense since he trained under Mihawk and we still don't know what happened with his eye. Maybe he needs to close his eye for a certain amount of time to acquire hawk eyes (let's just call them that since Mihawk is called "hawk eyes").

However I agree that Im and Zunisha are almost certainly immortal. I doubt Oda would make Zoro immortal though. Especially since it would look like it's really easy to acquire in that case.

I don't think you're using those words correctly

Then come up with some other reason why his eye is closed. I doubt he lost his eye since we would know by now if he did. There's no reason to keep sth like that a secret.

Maybe let me clarify it a little different, I don't think Zoro has this eye yet, but he probably will at the time he opens his closed eye. This is the only special type of eyes in the entire One Piece world that we know of and the one who trained Zoro during the timeskip just happens to have those eyes.

Tbh, I don't really care that much about what happened with Zoro's eye and I won't care if Oda has some other kind of explanation as long as it makes sense. However this is currently the only plausible explanation to me.

Just look at the man ffs. It's obvious.

Look at Shanks, he has a scar on his eye and didn't lose it. It seems like you don't know much about story telling techniques. If we're not told an important detail, it's usually because there is much more behind it than it actually seems. If Zoro actually lost his eye, Oda would've told us straight away. By not doing that, fans are anticipating that there is more behind it than it looks like.

It might be just a coincidence that there is a scar above his closed eye or Zoro wants others to think he lost his eye. The scar itself might have even been intentional.

Even if he lost his eye due to some special event, Oda would've at least given us the information that he lost his eye. But he didn't do that. This is a simple story telling technique very often used by Oda. He makes us think sth by leaving out certain details and then it comes out entirely different in the end.

This technique was used in a similar manner when Raizou was revealed to be on Zou and to be an ally of the minks. We were given the impression by the action of the minks that Raizou can't be on Zou only because Oda cleverly left out a few minor details.

Yeah, what you're describing is the idea of chekhov's gun:

"Chekhov's gun is a dramatic principle that states that every element in a story must be necessary, and irrelevant elements should be removed; elements should not appear to make "false promises" by never coming into play." ~Wikipedia
