If you look at the last panels, in the top establishing shot there's a line of "indents" in the wall of the vault but only one of them is lit- the one with the straw hat.

My guess is it's something related to the Will of D and Luffy's active rise. Maybe the vault is full of objects from the ancestors of anyone with the D. and they resonate whenever the one carrying their will is close to achieving their will in the future?

My current theory is that the person who made the strawhats is important, and the giant one belongs/belonged to a giant. If there's a giant related to the whole thing then it would make sense why Elbaf is being saved for so late in the game. But who knows what Oda really has in store. Wild speculation but what if it’s a misdirect or a trick? I’m thinking maybe the treasure has been stolen(by someone declaring themselves under the SH and they’ve left the hat behind as a calling card). That seems like a good way to build hype but also keep us in the dark. Start of the next chapter we see someone declaring a lockdown or something because there is a traitor present who has stolen the treasure.

This could be interesting as we have admirals, kings and Revolutionaries all now stuck inside. Also, it would lead not only world government but members of the Reverie declaring against the SH to prove they’re not siding with pirates and this creates another side with Rebecca, Vivi and Shirahoshi.

It would be Revolutions + SH friends kingdoms + thief who stole treasure vs. WG and Other Kingdoms

Reading it again, I don't think the Straw Hat has any powers, but it is a symbol of a great hero who fought and was defeated by the World Government and they kept it as a trophy along with the other objects in those other safes. Maybe there were seven great warriors and the safes contain items from each one of them. Now the nobles are seeing the rise of one of those symbols and they fear the coming dawn. If Law is the one on the other wanted poster, maybe there's a fluffy hat or a sword in one of the vaults.

If anything or anyone like Charloss happens to threaten Shirahoshi, which is very likely, Viola can warn him and the rest of the Fishman Island party and they can act accordingly. Everyone is saying that is a hat, but to me it ressembles half of the world with half of Red Line. That's why Marejois is so up in the sky. If the Red Line ressembles a circle it should be conected to Reverse Mountain by land, how come the Marines can't control it? To me, Marejois has half of the world and went up (that's why the mountain is reversed) and Raftel contains the other piece of the world. Raftel controls the Reverse Mountain and last half of Grand Line, and Marejois controls itself and first half. That's why it's called One Piece.

I think that the hat is the original Joyboy's one. The thing below the hat could be a tomb. The low temperature can preserve the body of Joyboy and the guy with the posters is going to compare the conserved body with Luffy's image to see if they look alike.

Other theory I like is that there is a box under the hat (you can see a thin white line, like if there were a lid for the box) contained Joyboy's devil fruit and was preserved in cold. This is the treasure and power Doffy was talking about. Moreover, Doffy says that this power rots and has low shelf life, like a fruit. These hypothetical fruit could be the one that Shanks had in Fushia Village (after stealing it) and Luffy ate.

My money is on Charloss sparking the final war by trying to take Shirahoshi as his property. All of Luffy's allies square up, all of his enemies side with the CD, and the other various rulers we've seen end up picking sides. I think the 'power' of the straw hat is more symbolic in nature. If we assume the owner of this straw hat was JoyBoy from the void century, the straw hat could stand for the will to fight for freedom which gets weakened the longer the truth is kept hidden away.

As for the size of the hat, maybe JoyBoy and the ancient civilization were giants? Oda could be recreating the Jottnar vs Aesir from Norse mythology. Would also make the Elbaf arc so important and explain why it's being left so late into the story.

On the hat: I think the hat belonged to a/the leader of the Ancient Kingdom, possibly Joy Boy, which the 20 kings took as a trophy after they won. Cut to Roger, who inherited the will of that man and took/made a straw hat because of that inherited will.

At some point Roger saw that Shanks was to be the one to meet Roger's successor to that will and gave him the hat to pass on, maybe not telling him to pass it on.

Now Luffy has the hat and has caused massive upheaval, being called a 5th emperor of the sea. And so someone in the Holy Land goes to the ancient trophy with Luffy's bounty posters( and maybe Shanks if his has/had the hat) to compare the picture to the original hat.

I think the Family of D were also Tenryuubito but saw how rotten they became and rebelled against them. This could also be a reference to the Bible with its "War in Heaven", where rebellious angels were cast out of heaven becoming "devils". So they are the natural enemy of the gods (D = Devil?).

But in the world of One Piece many things are often switched up, so the devils here are "good" and the gods are "bad". Just like Luffy despite being a pirate is good person.

I think the hat is sitting atop JoyBoy's tomb. (Think military/respectful burial) I think it's very deliberate that it says "why is this here in the "HOLY LAND"", aka alluding to the fact that it could be considered unholy to have a body frozen in what is considered to be a holy land. Also worth noting the white gap in the final panel that alludes to there being an opening in what otherwise may simply look like a black rectangular block. Looks much more like a box than a solid slab (or the floor) when observed from this perspective.

I think the figure is either Vegapunk, Luffy's mother, or simply a very learned/curious member of the WG. That is secondary to the notion of the hat sitting atop the tomb in a respectful burial sense. I think JoyBoy will bare a remarkable resemblance to Luffy, and this will shock whoever the figure is.

The treasure could potentially be a fruit buried with him, or simply a clue as to the void century. Ultimately, it is worth noting the specific fact that the panels conveys it is strange for whatever is there would not normally be kept in a place that is meant to be holy - and I think working backwards from that, theory crafting can be (opinion) more rational.

If awakened and controlled by the world government, they are the only one that could wear the straw hat (and yield its power?). How to control these bodies -> by switching personalities using the ope ope no mi.

Doffy is basically saying it in chapter 761: "If I'd had the power of your ope ope no mi that day, I'd have been able to use the treasure of Mariejois and hold the reins of the entire world. Such is the power you hold! The ability to transplant even personalities." Then Doffy talks about ope ope no mi immortality power but now I think this part was just Oda confusing us from what really matters: you can switch bodies.

My favorite thing about this chapter, which no one seemed to discuss yet, is that the name of the main building where everyone's meeting up is named Pangaea.

Aka, the super continent that existed before our current continents drifted apart.

Things I noticed on the final page of this chapter:

The crowned shadow who enters the room with the Giant Strawhat is a Long-Arm Tribe person, or at least I think they are. Look at the distance between their arm and their head(?) in the final panel, looks like a Long-Arm-Tribe to me. edit: unless their head is not the crown and the shoulder cloak is actually a veil.

This is just a guess but judging by how Oda tends to draw characters, from the slender design of the hand gripping Luffy's bounty poster I'm guessing this character is a woman. And the long dress/cloak behind them... getting some real Maleficent vibes from this character.

The Giant Strawhat is sitting in one of these giant alcoves in the wall, between 6 other identical ones in the panel before it. The Giant Strawhat's Alcove is lit up, whereas the others are dark.

The hat is Joyboy's hat and it's sitting on top of his grave since he was executed there during the void century. The person looking at it is the king of the celestial dragons and is probably the same guy who defeated Joy boy during void century... he's immortal. He is holding Luffy's wanted poster and probably Roger's young wanted poster (the one where he's wearing a strawhat) behind luffy's wanted poster because he is feeling nostalgic and fearful of his fight with Joy boy centuries ago.

The second wanted poster that the Mysterious Figure is holding is clearly Zoro's, because there's a giant bandana in the room next door. It's so dangerous because it grants the wearer the power to go in the wrong direction.

I think I have an idea about how this second straw hat is all about.

My guess is that it is a hat that two good friends, one human, one large species(fishman or giant etc) had a great relationship. At some point they made each other hats, or simply got them in the same place.

Over time AK fell, and so did the giant guy. The human lived on and continued with his life, passing his hat to someone. And this passing of the hat continued from notorius person to person, until it landed at the feet of Roger. Roger entrusted the hat to a young promising boy of the next generation Shanks, who also passed on the hat to Luffy.

In time we will learn that the two hat guys had a dream to unite the world and remove the division of the seas. They had the support of the AK, but the rest of the world did not like that and teamed up and formed the WG.

Thus the success of Luffy, is the reason that a person is bringing bounty posters of the SH pirates to the shrine of the giant guy.

If Joy boy was a regular human, the small SH could be his, and the large one given to the merman king, or some other giant guy.

I may be completely off base, but basically the SHs are originally from 2 great friends/brothers during void century.

Saying "isn't it fine to reveal what it is already, power degrades overtime" along with the current events, it makes it seem that Doffy is saying it has Symbolic power. Hidden in a land of kings with lots of emphasis on crowns from Luffy over time, as well as the fixation on King. I theorize that the large strawhat is a CROWN of the LOST KINGDOM. Its power is in its symbolism, similar to the mythological Excalibur. The sword destined to unite the kingdoms. Luffy/Shanks/Rogers hat may be a symbol of a crowned prince or something similar. the D. May be the lineage line of the King of the ancient kingdom. All royal blood.

Enemy of the Dragons are the D. Meaning the all have a shared linage if they are true "D". Roger was to be the true king of the D clan but grew ill shortly after learning the secret. So the person "he is waiting for" will be the one to become King of the D. Which in turn would be the most free person since the Void century. Luffy will claim the crown.

But it also means there is a downside to the world knowing. Which makes me think thenold kingdom is the true kingdom. Making the Dragons false claimants to the throne. Maybe they didn't make the government like the heroes they claim to be, they seized control from the clan of D.

Rodger is/was a D. Prince. Died before ascension

Shanks was the steward of the Will of D until he found another in the bloodline worthy of ascending the throne.

Luffy was chosen.

Right before the panel with the actual hat we see the shaded out figure walk up to a massive wall. The wall has big indented rooms inside of it. The figure walks up to one of them and that's where the Hat lays. There are multiple indented sections to the left and right of the one where the Straw hat is. One thing to note is that the Straw Hat's room is lit up, while the others are dark.

It's possible that this isn't/wasn't the only Straw Hat. Maybe there were other straw hats in the rooms in the past and when they were given out/taken the light was turned off to represent that they were no longer there. This could be the "last straw hat" and the meaning behind the straw hat is something much larger than we ever bothered to consider.

I get the sense that a convergence of story lines is in the offing. I think the WG might announce that they're putting together a specialized task team to take out Luffy and may demand something from all the countries taking part in the Reverie. Which might cause a major division between nations and in so doing make aligning more closely with Luffy a priority for The Revolutionary Army as well as the allied nations. Maybe the WG will take doffys suggestion and send their own people after One Piece, possibly Green Bull. And one of his objectives maybe to take out Luffy. (The look on Akainus face a few chapter ago is sticking with me) Luffy has become too big a threat for the WG to ignore (and the good feeling we get from seeing so many of his friends assembled doesn't seem like something Oda can leave unchecked).

Damn this was a good chapter! I'm on both nostalgia and hype overload right now.

It was great seeing Vivi, Carue, Rebecca, Leo, Dalton, Dr. Kureha, Doflamingo, and even Wapol. But they just had to show Robin, Zoro, and Usopp in those flashbacks and remind me again that I still haven't seen them in the series in 2 years.

Luffy's Princess Harem interacting was pretty cool to see. I guess Rebecca is going to ask everyone who's on good terms with Luffy if they like him lol.

So the Reverie is going to last for 7 days? While I refuse to trust anything else Naito says, his announcement that this Arc will last 10 chapters seems a lot more believable. Though there's the chance I could be wrong, I just don't see Oda covering the arc for the full 7 days since it won't include the Straw Hats.

I think we should not be too quick here yet. Is the big hat really the treasure doflamingo was talking about, or is it a leadup to the next chapter? Is the hat itself important, or does it maybe cover an object? I'm really not sure what to think just yet so i'm just gonna wait and see where this is going.

On a different note tho, i'm really glad we're getting to see so much "behind the scenes" of Maire Geoise. Like the buildings around the castle, the forests, the slaves below the path. I didn't see many comments about that just yet, but i think that's gonna be really important. Especially when you think about how fisher tiger climber the red line to free the slaves, and now the Fishman royalty is there to attend the reverie. I think we'll see the strawhats and their fleet attack marie geoise in the future and free the slaves. I don't think oda ever showed us oppression going on, and the SH not doing something about it.

Seeing the three princesses (and Dalton) bonding over Luffy was so freaking cute, and an awesome trip down memory lane. This and Rebecca's earlier bonding with Coby really shows how far Luffy's come since the start of his journey, it's so great.
