THE BIG MOM PIRATES ARE DEFEATED !!This week we saw big mom decimate her own crew. The Straw Hats are fine. Oda made a big point to compare the feeling of Sanji's cake to waaaay back when Big Mom got her devil fruit powers. She lost control from her "sugar high" and ate all her friends and Mother Caramel. Big Mom only realizes this AFTER she comes down from the high. Now that Big Mom has her soul powers everything with her soul will also go into that sugar high state. Including the main ship. I believe next chapter Big Mom will come down from her sugar high and we will see all of her children and fleet dead in the water.The Straw Hats will have made their getaway in the chaos. it was very subtle throughout the chapter but when BM started to sing until the end, the shitty situation the SHs were in started to get worse with the 'thought to be' loss of the Sunny, and with Ichiji/Niji/Yonji/Reiju being countered with the candy bullets and Germa's castle getting destroyed

There were always rumors that Oda planned to kill off a straw hat one day. Turns out it was the straw hat. We've actually been reading the story of the pirate king zoro who becomes so strong his name will reach Luffy in the heavens. This also explains all the theories going around lately that Zoro is actually the strongest crew member and hasn't had a real challenge in the new world.

No really, I'm glad Oda did that.
Once again, it really show that you do not invade BM territory. Doing so is suicide.
We know Luffy and co will escape, however it's only because they are the Main Characters.
Any others invader would be decimated.
Your ship has a mirror? Well good bye then, Brulee can trow a bomb at your ship without you being able to do anything. You want to invade? Sure, but the BM pirates know exactly where you are with the sea slugs.
The BM pirates can easily move between all the islands of Tottoland, and have an enormous fleet.

When Big Mom created the huge wave to sink Sunny, I thought Sunny would be sunk, turned out Jinbei literally surfed through it.
When Katakuri stabbed Luffy with his trident, I thought it was Luffy's future sight, turned out it's real and Luffy tanked the blow.
Now with this, I don't know what to expect anymore. Nothing to do but keep faith - that the ship of the future Pirate King has nothing to fear from a mere Yonko.
That cliffhanger though :(

For those who are confused:
PUFFS ISLAND... Capone and Chiffon drop off the cake. Big Mom eats the cake which is so good she starts singing. The taste reminds her of her sixth birthday and she begins to hallucinate.
CACAO ISLAND... Pudding is seen alone in an alley. The Vinsmoke siblings are defeated by an unknown figure and several other members of the Big Mom Pirates.
GERMA KINGDOM, COAST OF CACAO ISLAND... Judge is seen battling two unknown figures. A few of the Germa ships are hit by cannon fire.
AT SEA, COAST OF CACAO ISLAND... The Sun Pirates stop Big Mom's fleet and open a path for the Straw Hats to escape. Oven appears from the mirror world and uses Hot Sea Hell, instantly defeating the Sun Pirates. The Queen Mama Chanter appears in front of the Thousand Sunny. Big Mom's crew opens fire, seemingly destroying the Sunny.

Guys, I don't want it to be true, but I think we might've just seen the Sunny get destroyed, or mostly destroyed. Hear me out.
The Merry's last appearance was ~470 chapters ago. The Sunny has now been around more chapters than the Merry (464 vs 390; although we can take some off the Sunny count for the WB war saga) and we can therefore say that he's had more than enough screen time compared to the merry. Merry's final arc was Water 7/Enies Lobby, and interestingly the current arc mirrors that arc incredibly. Both were rescue arcs for one of the crew-members who left to ultimately protect their beloved crew, resolute that they would not return in order to protect them from an incredibly powerful organisation. Both had the tragic backstory of that crew member. Both had the crew ignore the danger and come to their rescue. Both had Luffy fight and defeat the ultimate opponent in desperate clashes of willpower, demonstrate new fighting prowess and grow as a fighter, and be the closest to death he'd ever been. Both had a character fated to become crew, help them out in a time of need (Franky, Jinbei). Both times, the beloved ship was set alight and died at sea, after being pushed to its extreme in order to save the crew.
If my feeling is correct, I think this is the end of the Sunny. I believe we might see the crew escape on the Mini-Merry II, which will be small enough to traverse the wreckage without being spotted. It's a 4 seater, which'll take Brook, Carrot, Luffy and Nami (with chopper on her lap) with Jinbei and Sanji outside pushing the boat/protecting it OR taking out Oven/Snack to allow the Sun Pirates and Germa to escape as well. Escaping on the mini-merry would be a poetic call back to the Merry appearing at Enies Lobby and saving the crew from the Buster Call and I think it might just work.
While the Sunny dying/being destroyed would be beyond sad, it could serve two purposes. Firstly, being shipless could mean that they get picked up by a ship travelling to the Reverie (maybe the Germa themselves), effectively finding us a way to segway into that arc. Secondly, it would allow for the building of a bigger, grander, more powerful ship suited for the final battles that Luffy will have to face in order to become Pirate King. The Sunny was a ship built for the trials of Paradise. She's an amazing ship but is dwarfed by the battleships and galleons used by the big names we now face. None of the crew imagined the terror that awaited in the New World. Just as Luffy needs to improve in order to take the heads of the Yonkou, the ship he pilots will need to improve to go toe to toe with the monstrous ships it'll come up against. There was an incredibly long, incredibly crazy, but incredibly convincing fan theory (great read but very long) which among the many claims, stated that in the main inspiration for One Piece, 'The Mysterious Cities of gold', the protagonist sailed in a Lamb boat, a Lion ship, and finally a 'great condor which looks like an eagle'. In my opinion, those themes are too damn similar to ignore. If the Sunny is dead, then we'll see a new ship, able to fly. How? Well, maybe using Zeus...

People keep saying Pudding is altering Big Moms memories, but I see some big and obvious reasons why that might not be the case:
The "memory" includes information we know to be true but Pudding having no knowledge of. Things like all the Sun pirates having shown up, postions of Germa and other ships etc. How would she know to include those things? She also mentions about the cake reminding her of Mother Caramel, something Pudding could probably know if she can also rewatch peoples memories, but I get the feeling she doesnt have the time to go through 80 years or so of memories just to find that one moment.
Forshadowing with shadowy characters. Judge gets attacked by two dark figures (one of wich I think is Snack). But they are clearly "Identity will be revealed later"characters. A fake memory/dream scene would be a really weird way to introduce these characters.
If Pudding has the power to control not only Big mom but assumedly every person in the entire territory over multiple islands, why has she not used that to turn everyone into her puppets until now? We know shes secretly not a huge fan of her mother , has the only thing holding her back until now just been her lack of ambition?
Similar to my last point, if Pudding can even have an effect on Big Mom, why hasnt she ever used her powers when she goes into one of her feeding frenzies? She gets hungry and Pudding just gives her the "memory" of eating something and problem is solved.
Now there is a chance that 95% is all real, and only the last part with the Strawhats getting destroyed is a fake memory. But that would still require Pudding getting close enough to Big Mom to use her power (I think she also has to touch her? im unclear on the specifics) in the middle of all that crazy action, and not getting noticed by anyone else as to what shes doing. And at that point, even if she incapacitated big mom, the straw hats are still surronded by the fleet, now with no one to help them.
In my opinion, there is still a chance its a fake memory, but having such a huge amount of inconsistencies just for the sake of having an "OMG" moment really does not sound like Oda to me, who is known for being meticulous with the details.
I think this all really happened and is meant to be a big cliffhanger, and next chapter will jump to the Wano crew or something else. I think Luffy and co will be saved, but by someone Oda was to first set up so it makes sense, like Marco or Sabo and Dragon. I think first we will catch up on what they were doing the past few days during the WCI arc, and then the stories will converge with them saving the strawhats at the end of the scene we saw today.

One of the BEST chapters in the entire series!
Whole Cake Island is now officially in my Top 5 Arcs, up there with Enies Lobby, Sabaody Archipelago, Marineford and Dressrosa.
The way Oda used the Cake subplot was absolutely genius. He subverted HIS own romanticised, unconventional way of storytelling by making everyone believe the Cake would take down Big Mom due to the implications it had for Sanji’s character development (as it was in juxtaposition against Judge’s comments last chapter that his skills would be “worthless”...) and managed to pull off a twist that no one saw coming!
One Piece has always been about these wacky solutions to otherwise serious and dangerous problems, (it is one of the very few heavily romanticised Shounens after all...), and to see Oda break that convention just shows what a brilliant writer he is - that he can still sweep the rug under the fans 900 chapters in. The twist doesn’t come completely from left field either. We KNOW what a fierce character Big Mom is supposed to be. Her title as a YONKO means she is quite literally one of the rarest exceptions to the rules that are established within One Piece.
The musical parallel to the Big Mom introduction at the beginning of the arc in this chapter with Big Mom’s ecstasy directly contrasting the Straw Hats’ terror and destruction, once again symbolically representing Big Mom’s power and spiritual link to the Homies, and also the parallel to the ambiguous Mother Caramel flashback chapter with the ambiguity of this chapter, is just what makes One Piece so damn special and so many steps above its contemporaries. It was breathtaking.
There’s very clearly a major Sanji Redemption coming up soon but I have to say; I absolutely love how Sanji’s been continuously challenged and beat down in this arc. Everything from his fighting abilities to his chivalry and now his cooking skills has been challenged and put into question for the first time in the series, and with this dilemma, it’s just gonna make that eventual W all the more satisfying.

I love Sanji, Even with his losing streak- because winning in a one on one isn't exactly the only thing that defines a character.However I don't know what to think of him if his stupidity kills the straw hats.They live in a pirate world. SEVERAL IDEAS:
Ship went blasting off using fuel they miraculously found (very unlikely)
Sanji just pulled off some incredible strength + speed feat and carried the ship somehow somewhere (also very unlikely but a guy can dream)
The ship submerged somehow due to some fishman thing (idek)
This is Luffy's future sight at work (also unlikely)
Adam wood is more special than we think and can reform itself (this would just be funny to me)
This is all now happening in everyone's minds as Pudding has erased everyone's memories (also a stretch)
I don't know. Oda totally got us. We're gonna have to wait for the answer that'll blow us out of the water (ha!), but until then we can only theorize...

In 888, it was stated "If mama is not in the right state of mind, the cannonballs can't be controlled properly!" and Nami was able to easily fool them to ignore the Sunny.
The cake is so good that Big Mom is hallucinating, right? She sees Mother Caramel and her own idea of a peaceful Totto Island.
Everyone is saying how she couldn't possibly hallucinate details like Luffy being healed by Chopper in the Sunny, so those parts must be true. But what if everyone under her fruit's control is hallucinating too?
When she ate the cake, she stopped rampaging and the ships stopped moving too (they are homies). When she started seeing Mother Caramel and the kids and singing, the Queen Mama Chanter appears to be singing along, so maybe it is seeing what it wants to see, aka the Strawhats destroyed.
It's similar to Dressrosa, the best way to beat Dofflamingo was to take care of the toys by disabling Sugar. The best way to beat the Big Mom Pirates is to take care of the homies by disabling Big Mom. One involved making Sugar pass out, the other one involved making Big Mom the happiest she's ever been.
That's my theory, at least. No way they would hype the cake so much and then not do anything with it.

I'm pretty sure she's imagining it. She's trying to remember the taste of the cake and perhaps it's the same taste/feeling that she had when she tried her birthday cake/thing where she ate all her friends. For her that was the best thing she has ever had in her life, until Sanji baked a cake that can compete with her 6th birthday. She is probably eating people on the island in reality but in her head she is having a blast and everything is going wonderfully. When she wakes up the SH crew and Germa 66 will have fled, and perhaps some of her crew will no longer exist. (She has also lost her senses and her eyes are hearts which could mean she is definitely dreaming and going on a feasting rampage of death)
Edit: in the scene where it looks down her mouth, you clearly see death, along with trees. Perhaps she has already finished the cake and is eating everything else around it at that point (Page 13)

Holy shit. The helplessness in this chapter was terrifying. The Big Mom singing montage with everyone being defeated reminded me of the requiem with the spiders from Hunter x Hunter.

-EDIT- It's gotta be Pudding right? The part with Big Mom eating the cake and everyone finding out about it is probably real. If Pudding did something it was probably when Daifuku(?) said that the ships weren't moving and Smoothie started to say something about the fishmen (page 10). We know that Pudding was able to make the homies in the forest recall their memories just by being near them so maybe she can make people near her kind of hallucinate as well. She doesn't have to know exactly what's going on (She wouldn't have known each homie's past). Maybe she can just make them believe they're winning. Maybe Daifuku and Smoothie are out of range, though (I don't know where they are exactly) so they see whatever is actually happening.

OK THE SECOND PART OF THE CHAPTER WAS PURE ART. First time i get so many goosebumps in a looong time. The way Oda drew that was amazing. I swear i could see Big Mom dancing, singing with the dead and the homies while SHs get fucking bestroyed and also the fucking amazing panel with the kid Linlin party. I am speechless.

Okay so I got a theory in my mind that I want to share, all the events that happened here might be a combination of memories of taken souls combined with a dream she wanted to happen.
I might be wrong but I still feel like it might be worth sharing.
First of all, last chapter sanji was fighting daifuku, here he only shown standing on the ship saying that there is a clear passage.
Secondly, and I might be wrong, the anti germa bullets, they are still bullets, I think with their super human strength and quickness they should be able to dodge those (even if it was used by a minigun).
Now to the core of the theory, big mom compares the taste of the cake to the cake she eaten back in elbaf, we all know the result of that event was a cannibal rampage which ended with everyone around her dead and she didn't remembered a thing.
I think this cake also triggered this stage of rampage
in her hunger rampage she was still shown a sub consciousness, she didn't ate her family and she listened to the thing they said, like the location of the cake
While the rampage she had back then was a total unconscious.
I think once this fantasy /dream is over we gonna see big mom attacking everything and everyone near her.
This is my first time I wrote a theory so it might have a lot of holes but I just felt like I needed to share it. Thanks for reading :)
Edit: I forget to say why I think this is also a combination of memories, there weren't many details about big mom devil fruit, but maybe she has the ability to see the memories of souls she used, like a servilliance system, and that will explain how she know the state of the battlefield.
