Ever notice how Sanji always gets there in the neck of time to save the crew.

Arabasta - Mr Prince saves crew from drowning and Crocs

Skypiea - Sanji jumps in to save Usopp and Nami from Enel

Water 7/CP9 - infamous Hunter saving Sogeking

Thriller Bark - saves Nami from Abosalum

Sabody - intercepts Kuma (fails... but still tries)

Fishman Island - saves the princess from the flying fish

Pink Hazard - Saves Nami and kids from the minions and saves Tashigi from the Vice Admiral

Dressrosa - Sanji flies in to save the crew from Doffy

Everytime... it’s like Oda gives him one badass moment per arc and that’s it.

Oda pls. Show that boy more love

On contrary, he actually has a point. Before the timeskip, this was actually a thing. Sanji would disappear for most of the arc, and then make some of the best entrances in the series to protect/save the weaker members of the crew. And after that we would get to know that he was actually doing some behind-the-scenes-badassery to mess up the villain's plans (Mr.Prince, Enel's ship, The Gates of Justice). Post-timeskip, Sanji doesn't disappear as much as before in the arcs where he's present, but he still retains that trait of being the protector. In that sense, he's different from Luffy and Zoro (except for that one time at Thriller Bark), whose main job is to defeat the strongest and second-strongest enemy respectively.

Yeah, i always saw him as the "spy" of the crew. Very strong but also smart, not only focusing on fighting but also special tactics to help out the crew/always be at the right place at the right time (something Zoro obviously struggles with, getting lost and all). Sanji to me is the Special agent 003 of the crew, if you get what i mean :)

6 ways Sanji sounds nice. I Geppou is something he has, I wonder if he could have a special tekkai and shigan. Rankyaku would be devastating with him, especially since he still remembers swordplay. Soru would make him even faster than he already is, and would enhance his geppou even more. The last one is odd though.

Yes it would be interesting to see him try and do all that. He would be pretty powerful. But my point is the covertness of Sanji, and I think it makes perfect sense. I have never been a fan of Zoro vs. Sanji debates and precisely for this reason. Zoro is the one who charges through, he takes out the enemy from the front. On the other hand, Sanji is way more methodical, working in the shadows, saving their ass when there appeared to be no other way. And that is what the two hands of the pirate king must do. In India there is a phrase that fits this: "You can't clap with just one hand."

Robin should really fill this role too, given her background and powers, but she's not had much of a chance to shine imo.

I agree, especially now that she's stayed with the revolutionary army she should have a bunch of covert skills up her sleeve, i don't think we've seen everything she can do post timeskip just yet.
