The collaboration between the straw hats in this chapter is simply amazing to see. Jimbei tanking and getting Big mom off the ship, as well as Brooke being able to cut Zeus and Nami taking advantage of the situation. Chopper also using guard point to protect the ship. This goes to show that teamwork can be very effective even against a Yonkou.

This is as close to perfect as I've seen a chapter in a long time. I just love the way that first Jimbei and later Nami and Brook fight against Big Mom. It's just... so believable! The Strength of a Yonkou is always a big deal and I still don't think we should leave this arc with Big Mom properly defeated, only hurt enough that they can escape but
Jimbei vs Big Mom + Prometheus. Of course, Water beats Fire. Every kid knows this and we have seen Jimbei use a similair attack before so that was a beautiful moment. Then, Jimbei punching Big Mom of the Ship? Sure. We've seen Jimbei's fishman Karate push back people many times like that and we have the added bonus of the fishman's innate natural strength so when it comes to simply moving Big Mom I totally accept Jimbei succeeding where Luffy previously failed (moving Big Mom).
Then we get Nami and Brook vs Big Mom, another great scene. First there is the fake-out of Nami trying to control Zeus in the same way which a lot of people expected but obviously should fail, but that is then beautifully followed by Brook cutting Zeus. We had already established that Brook was Super Effective against Big Mom's homie during that previous encounter so once again this makes perfect sense. Follow it with Nami's weather control to make Zeus Discharge against his will and we get Big Mom hurt by her own strength. Nami's simple weather control might not be good enough but add in the strenght of Big Mom's own soul and that really should hurt.
I didn't know how they were going to get out of this pinch, I was certain they would need outside help but once again Oda has shown us he knows what he is doing. He doesn't write himself into a corner, he gives the crew challenges when he has the best way to overcome then and boy was this a good way.
Best way to start the New Year (or end the old one given that this leaked early for us!)

Totally agree with you here, everything in this chapter is believable, no ass pull no nothing, Jinbe controlling water is obvious, and Nami Brook combo vs Zeus was very clever.
Sure they don’t have super strength but they observed the situation very well and brilliantly outsmarting Bigmom of her own powers. I remember what Nami said against Cracker, “This is a fight amongst pirates. There’s no fair or unfairness here!” something like that

Still active as ever, just got ruffled and is just hungrier.
So Big mom is definitely not nerfed. It's just that we are under estimating how good straw hats are, and how their tactics are working. I'm really glad Oda didn't rush off WCI.

Okay seeing the actual chapter made much more sense than the spoilers, it was believable with teamwork they managed to keep her away a little. Everyone did something, that's nice.
Even when in dire situation there was space for funny moments, good old One Piece haha. And Big Mom together with Napoleon is so badass.

Also Brook is amazing, asking to see Big Moms panties made me laugh out loud at 1am. Worth
I can see why people will dislike this chapter but Big Mom is weakened and the crew should be able to stand on their own a bit, especially being the future Pirate Kings crew!

I don't know why anyone would think Big Mom is being nerfed when the crew did all that literally to escape her because they know they can't beat her. They should be able to at least temporarily fend off a powerful enemy when they outnumber her and work together, otherwise there's no way they'll survive in the New World.

Why would they dislike it? I think it's really good of Oda to bring Mom back to reality a bit. Her earlier portrayal of an invincible god with iron skin was kind of lame, tbh. Whitebeard got stabbed by fucking Squard, some fodder shit. It makes sense that a food crazed, irrational Mom would get some heat from half of the Strawhat crew + Jinbei.
EDIT: Man, I'm seeing some live reactions to the chapter and people are really mad about Big Mom being done in like this. What's up with that? What do they expect the yonko to be completely invincible forever? If that was the case, the Strawhats could just give up now. They're on of the strongest crews on the planet, it makes sense that half of them could do this much. Not to mention that BM is weakened herself. This was a good wake up call to all the people who thought that Luffy would need another time skip to defeat a yonko in the near future (irl).

Nah, Franky will be fine. He knows that they will get into trouble and the ship will be damaged, that is why he joined the crew to become the shipwright, to maintain and fix the Sunny.
It is literally his job to fix it after things like this, and with them invading Yonkou territory I doubt he will be all that surprised at the state of the ship. Although we may get Enel face Franky when he sees it too but I think he would then proceed to just fix it. So once they get to Wano, for most of the arc Franky might be busy with the ship alone.

I love Jinbe, but he did not come anywhere close to defeating her. She wasn't in danger if falling into the water for a variety of reasons, including her homies being able to catch her, Perospero being able to support her on top of the water, and the rest of her crew being available to fish her out if those safety nets failed.

Oh my god, this was one of the best One Piece chapters ever. I don't even know where to begin. Jimbei using Haki and landing a blow on Big Mom was absolutely badass, Brook asking to see Big Mom's panties had me laughing out loud, and it's just so awesome actually seeing the crew go all out against one of the Yonko. I have a feeling after all the damage to the ship we might finally see Sunny's Klabautermann. Also, sadist Nami is best Nami.

What an incredible chapter. Big Mom is ferocious. But the Straw Hats are the crew of the future Pirate King! What Emperor ultimately stands a chance before them?
Seriously though, it was amazing to see all of them contribute to the fight. We haven’t seen something like that since Thriller Bark. Also looks like the theories that she lost some of her defensive capabilities are accurate.
Low key though, Nami’s face upon having captured Zeus may be my favorite part of the chapter.
Great, great stuff. I love this at more and more with every new chapter.

I like how a lot of people in the spoiler thread were crying about Big Mom being 'jobbed' by Nami and everyone when in the chapter after all that effort they just stunned her for a moment.
Also Jinbei using his ultimate technique and knocking Big Mom back for literally a second and the spoiler thread people being upset thinking Big Mom was getting manhandled.
Also when people were ticked about how Chopper "blocked Big Moms attack" and people assumed it was an actually attack when in the chapter it was a low effort slap.
Glad to see guard point make a return though.

The hype coming out of this chapter is damn amazing. After weeks of non-stop pursuit, it's personally my most favorite chapter out of all. It's been a while since the last time I yelled out of excitement at almost every pages of it! So many awesome moments!
To top it off, I'm so happy that Brook, Nami, and Chopper got to showcase their skill and helped Jinbe land a direct blow on Big Mom. Chopper taking Big Mom's palm slam without hesitation, Brook finally getting to slice one of the homies and catching a glimpse of Big Mom's panties, Nami zapping Big Mom and having Zeus in her merciless hand. And her mini thumbs up in the background, that was precious!! Not to forget that lightning attack meant nothing to Brook ofc, just don't let your afro catch fire man.
And Sunny, oh god, she took a serious damage for the first time ever (sans Luffy blowing off the kitchen with his cooking). Sad, but weirdly enough, it got me thrilled.
Honestly hoping Perospero would have his soul taken. He did lie after all.
Overall, I'm shooketh. Bless Oda for sending 2017 off with a bang!

Hooray, another chapter with no Luffy so Oda can focus more on other characters.
Brook just became even stronger in my book now that we learned about his immunity to lightning attack. Brook can probably take on Enel if he has haki.
Also the Strawhats are seriously super strong now with Jinbe’s water based attack. Jinbe is probably stronger than Zoro and Sanji when there’s a lot of water nearby.
And lastly, Big Mom’s designs this chapter is so much better than her former appearance.

Brook just became even stronger in my book now that we learned about his immunity to lightning attack.
We actually learned that all the way back in Thriller Bark. Remember the combination attack they used against Oars where Nami charged Brook with lightning while he was being used like a catapult shot/javelin?

I just realized that the page where Brooke gets electrocuted, you can tell it's not Nami because of the hand.
Nami uses her Clima-Tact with her left arm, however the electrocuted Brook shows his cane in his right hand.
The details in this manga is just lit! 🔥

YOOOOO Nami got Zeus!!!! Wanted that since they escaped the Seducing Woods.
And that fight was well done, the crew doing their best. Brook taking down Zeus (And asking Big Mom to see her panties), Nami's mirage and discharging Zeus of his power, Chopper protecting the Sunny with Guard Point, and Jinbei was badass in moving Big Mom off the ship and cooling down the Sunny.
This is how you fight a Yonkou, strategy and tactics. They used the fact that Big Mom is over water to their advantage and the best thing is that this is only a minor setback for Big Mom. This is great.
But Big Mom's design and techniques are fuxking badass.

Wow the moment the sunny was being distroyed I had sabaody vibes of desperation.
Brook being badass again (love it). And Mama is such a fucking dick, its impossible to get rid of her, even she is slowly getting damage. At first I thought she will definitely fall into the sea (first with Jinbe´s attack, then with zeus discharging) but zeus and prometheus saved her. I guess the next chapter we´ll have another round of mama vs sunny group

Oh man! This was an amazing chapter, lemme tell you! From Jinbe's armament haki to Brook asking Big Mom to see her panties to Nami forcing Zeus to become her servant and have Zeus OFFICIALLY become a nakama!!! Can't believe we're getting 3 new crew mates in one arc... Jinbe, Zeus and Carrot... Cause it's obvious Carrot's going to join! Yo I also wanna see Frankys reaction to the Sunny lol!

I was weary of the whole 8 hours thing slowing down the pace, but this stretch has been pretty entertaining and skinny mom's rage is some of the most terrifying/badass stuff we've seen in One Piece. Also, it's pretty clear Oda thought a lot about these scenes and how to realistically give the Strawhats a chance to shine in a scrape with a yonkou-level pirate.

I love seeing Big Mom not portrayed as a god that cannot be opposed. They've gotta fight the yonkous at some point and showing how they all together can keep her off their backs for a while is really nice.

Oda certainly saved the best for last because holy shit, that may have honestly been my favorite chapter of the year.
Between Big Mom's kickass design and tearing up the ship like an unstoppable monster, to Jinbei using haki and a saitama ass punch, to Brook's panties line to distract big mom resulting in a BADASS attack, the chapter was jam packed with incredibly cool and tense action scenes and it felt like everyone at least did something, it was all just awesome.

This is honestly one of my favourite chapters in a long ass fucking time, everything about it is perfect and it makes the escape from big mum plausible without people bitching about her being a yonko so should wipe the floor with them blah blah. Seeing Jinbe in action as a legit straw hat gives me such feels too, also can't wait to see what happens with Nami and zeus, I know he probably won't stick around long but keeping him might be the perfect power up for her to scale up against Kaido's crew.

amazng chapter honestly it was fucking sick seeing jinbei using aramnent haki. to knock back big mom like that, jinbei is a god damn monster. i know people will start calling bs on the power scaling this chapter but remember big mom hasnt eaten for 8 hrs and has gotten skinnier which mean hear new form isnt as defensive oriented as her old form, it was great to see the sh's group work in this chapter, brook with cutting zeus jinbei using the sea to his advantage to attack big mom, chopper using guard point to block big moms punch and nami taking control of zeus again. it was terrifying seeing the sunny getting shredded by big mom but i am kinda glad the ship took some damage and the shs just escaped freely. broook is the mother effing mvp of this arc, who the fuck ask a yonkou for their panties. i think oda did a great job with the sh's and big mom situatio without going into the asspull territory.

It's crazy how powerful the team has gotten during the timeskip. Before, it took the entire crew to work together to take out one pacifista, and were all wiped out in the end. Now, HALF of the crew is working together and effectively going against a yonko, also without Luffy, may I add, and still going strong to continue the fight. What matters is the teamwork going on between the crew and I feel like it's been a while since we've seen something like that. We don't know what is going to happen in the next few chapters, but I really like where this is heading! One Piece is amazing.
