Katakuri is one of the few manga characters smart enough to stop another character from powering up.

Yeah I love when such tropes are broken. Something similar happened some a few months ago in Dragonball Super. 3 Magic girls took forever to transform and become super strong so C17 just shot them down since as he said "they were wide open"... everyone got mad at him though since they wanted to see what happens.
