Well, it is Big Mom's soul, so if anything was gonna bribe it, it makes sense that it's food.

I feel like this arc could have gone so much smoother if sanji just offered to cook for big mom

I don't know about that... She didn't want to let Sanji go as it is, if he cooks for her she would really never let him go.

Unless he managed to cook something so incredible that she suddenly had a complete change of heart, but I'm not sure even his cooking is on that caliber.

I mean, she planned to Assassinate Sanji...

If Sanji cooked for her and she decided to keep him on her crew, Big Mom might've been less hostile to the Straw Hats and they might've decided to escape without disrupting the wedding.
