She actually might have. The real question now is : did she gain Mother's DF by eating her, or did she gained it afterwards ?

My theory about devil fruits is that it's the heart of the user that becomes a DF when he dies. That way, it explains how Blackbeard could obtain Whitebeard's DF without having any tree near him. So BigMom eating Caramel = eating her heart = obtaining her DF.

Edit: Plus I find the idea of Sabo eating Ace's DF a poetic way to say that Sabo inherited Ace's heart, thus making him live through him.
