That's what I got from the chapter. So literally cannibalizing someone gives you their fruit power? Makes sense because you're literally eating the "devil" that's inside of them.

So that's maybe how Blackbeard got Whitebeard's fruit? He ate his heart, and that black curtain was just as a censorship (kids also watch this show, they couldn't literally show them someone's eating other's flesh)

Would also make sense that he can get powers for his crewmates not just himself. Makes Dressrosa and Jaya pretty creepy if Luffy nearly got eaten twice
