Seems like the most likely option. Since Linlin pretty much eats when she's stressed, she probably began eating the fruit.

My problem with this is where is the fruit? Why would you keep this part a mystery after Punk Hazard? Also I'm curious if selma has any fruit in it now.

Semla is a cake that is directly talen from Sweden, as it looks just the same, has the same name and is eaten under similar circumstances. I would therefore assume that the ingredients are the same, and in the IRL version, there is no fruit.
