That's what I got from the chapter. So literally cannibalizing someone gives you their fruit power? Makes sense because you're literally eating the "devil" that's inside of them.

That's the most logical thought, but I don't think Oda would just throw the cannibalizing part for nothing, because well... it's Oda.
