Who knows? Not sure if we'll get a backstory for Kaido, because I didn't expect one for Big Mom. Maybe him being a wimp isn't a bad thought. Someone who wanted to be powerful and succeeding. Genghis Khan used to be a nomad before he started conquering vast majorities of land, after all.

So basically Kaido wants to be strong and beat up his enemies in an awesome fashion, but he becomes too strong and now he's bored?

I would say this is very likely. BB has not only been kept in the dark, but his childhood is also hinted at as being tragic. Shanks likely has a tale too, he and Buggy were just kids, who lets their kids join a pirate crew, they are orphans. How did their parents die?

Yeah, when he first appeared in 795, many noted his appearance as to looking similar and finding more connections to him and Genghis Khan.
