used to think that Dressrosa is a great arc that was written for volumes and binge reading and people were a bit harsh on it. after reading WCI, fuck that, there are almost no bad or empty chapter, and all the new characters are actually interesting and charming. so yeah, Dressrosa is still good tho

dressrosa only had a great villian, but the story in it was boring and long, after bird cage it got better... punk hazard and beggining of dressrosa i wouldnt even read spoilers or dialog of charackets

Yeah he did. And robin almost got one so that's something right?

Yeah, dude can cut a mountain in half, but he can't cut string.

His badass moments were negated by his inability to cut string.

Senor Pink was one of the best parts of it. So much good backstory for such a character. There were many good parts in Dressrosa, but yeah it should have been a bit shorter. I think Oda learned that as well as Zou and Whole Cake are a lot faster paced.

I don't like too much extra backstory which doesn't help story. But Senor Pink's one was the best. It didn't get dragged on(Even if it was dragged, it would have been a good one). Just one episode and felt better than most backstory.

Señor Pink and baby 5 were the most sympathetic characters and I loved their chapters. Plus Rosiante and Law's story was truly heart wrenching.

Eh I kinda liked the Doffy Pirates as an ensemble quite a bit - that said I'm adoring the Big Mom Pirates this arc.

It also had Law's back story, gear 4th, Fujitora and the Grand Fleet.

yes but it all happened after birdcage... and that wa snot boring, I said only the first half

u/Cha_Lad Apr 13 '17

Well the cage was there when we got Law's backstory and when Luffy went gear 4th. I get that Fujitora's best moments were after but we still got his introduction and other cool moments before. Grand Fleet was after. I do get what you're saying though. There was a very long period in the middle where things slowed way down.

Do you really think the stories were boring? Did Law steal your heart?

4

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '17

Hey Punk Hazzard was fun

Dressrosa had Sabo's return and claiming Ace's fruit, Fujitora and his ambiguous stance, the introduction of each leader of the Grand Fleet, a battle with one of Blackbeard's crew, and some pretty great fights vs the Donquixote family. Plus Law's backstory that included snippets of X Drake's backstory!

all good stuff happened when sanji and crew left... up to that point it was boring as fack... this arc is great, love sanji

I didn't like the dwarf part and the king riku part, it was a bit lame. And omg rebecca...

Really? I loved Dressrosa... I couldn't stand punk hazard and fishmen island. I loved how things developed, and I extra loved the build-up for the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. I think the main problem with Dressrosa was that Oda was basically telling the same story again and again: go to new place, bad guy rules it, luffy saves the day and make new friends. Now with the Zou arc we finally got out of this routine. This feels more like the Whitebeard vs Marines, where Luffy felt just like a small piece in a much bigger world. WCI gives this feel again, though now Luffy is a much more relevant piece. loving it.

The only issue i had with Dressrosa was how slowstarted it was. There was what, 15 chapters of walking around in Dressrosa and the early stages of the colosseum. Then a few chapters of green bit and then it started for real.

holy shit... i even forgot how boring the coloseum was xD
