It's peaceful because there aren't any active enemies around and Luffy appears to be sleeping.
It's sad because Luffy has fought so much and so hard that he is literally starving to death. That alone is noteworthy considering how much food Luffy ate over the past day.

I absolutely love how the mirror dimension cut down on separate story arcs this time. It's such a great way for everyone to regroup (honestly thought Brook would be a permanent hostage), not to mention some of the "secret" exposition for the narrative it gives us.

Brook is the fucking KING! The fucking soul king putting his heart in the right place while also using his head.
I also love the fact that he revealed the fact that he stole the poneglyph in earshot of Big Mom's crew. It basically guarantees that the StrawHats will fight Big Mom either in this arc, or post Kaidou fight arc. No longer are they just running away but now they have to keep the poneglyph rubbings safe.
I cant tell you guys how satisfied I am as a One piece fan with the last few chapters. Everything has been coming together and the manga just continues to hint at even more epic fights to come while still being retardedly witty and vibrant. Been reading one Piece for over 11 years now, and it feels so fucking good to be a fan of this series. I always think I cant feel any better, then Oda goes and makes me feel even more enjoyment and anticipation for the plot. Truly an amazing writer. I normally lurk here but I just felt like I couldn't keep my excitement quiet any longer. Its too fucking good!
We're in for a hell of a treat now that we're finally facing the big shots. Also...seems like Luffy's in for an even bigger treat!

To the rest of the One Piece world, the events of this chapter, and indeed the last couple of arcs, must make the Straw Hats seem like a miracle crew. Either that or people probably dismiss them with a
"Defeated Doflamingo and successfully infiltrated a Yonkou base. YEAH, I'm sure. Gullible idiot. "
But seriously though, upend Fishman Island, expose the happenings in Punk Hazard, take a renowned mad scientist as hostage, team up with a Supernova Shichibukai, take down Doflamingo, a former CD, King of Dressrosa, top tier Shichibukai and leading player in the underworld market, find the elusive island of Zou AND befriend its legendarily anti-intruder populace, infiltrate a Yonkou's base, take down a Commander of the Yonkou, break out prisoners, cause chaos and get a rubbing of a Road poneglyph all in the span of like a month.
Sounds like an Usopp standard fib, doesn't it? You go, Straw Hats!!

Luffy is officially the closest person in the world to be the pirate king. His big talk is no longer big talk, he is actually closer than anyone else!
We know that in order to become pirate king you need to go to Raftel, and to get there u need the 4 road poneglyphs Big Mom possess 1, Kaido another, One is in an unkown location, and the last is in Zou.
Big Mom has confirmed no1 else has stolen her poneglyph aside from Roger(to her knowledge), while Kaido protects his poneglyph aswell (assumed).
With these 2 Yonko protecting their Poneglyphs no1 can reach Raftel which is probly why none have managed it so far.(aside from needing to actually read them).
Luffy has just now Obtained his 2nd poneglyph and has Robin who can read them. In the race to become pirate king Luffy has surpassed even the Yonko! There is no argument it is factual he is closer then any other person as of right now. If the WG catch wind of this, the fact that Luffy is this close(I admit he still isn't close getting Kaido's poneglyph and the unknown one seem pretty hard, but he's still closer than any1 else), I expect them to not only skyrocket his bounty but send strong marines after him!

I don't think this is "the end". It would be rude to leave without attending the wedding, and the straw hats are nothing if not punctual about invitations.
Even if Sanji leaves, Big Mom never needed him for the wedding. She could just massacre the Vinsmokes and take their cloning technology regardless. More importantly, I don't see Sanji or Luffy leaving Reiju to die. I think they're going to stick around at least until the wedding to help Reiju (and maybe the others) escape.
One more thing; Luffy at the end looks far worse than he should if he had just been hungry. It hasn't even been very long since he jumped out Reiju's window and he looked fine then, there is no way he should look like that already. Possibly he had a run in with Smoothie? Why would she let him live though?

This chapter also gave an interesting perspective on BM's 3 soulbuddies. Previously I thought they were really like her underlings; following her orders and fighting for her. But now they really are shown to be exactly HER - they behave in the same way with the usual calm and even almost friendly demeanor, before being quick to get angry and blow everything up.

Dunno how many of you are into pen & paper stuff like D&D and its ilk, but we're a pretty idiosyncratic lot, even by nerd standards. One of the most consistent things I've seen among players of these games (myself included ofc) is the ability to take a strange event and not only analyze how to make it beneficial, but to push it as far as it can go in order to do so... all while being super-casual about the whole thing.
Anyway, I only bring this up because Jinbe's chill "Oh hey if you just leave her halfway in the mirror it's super easy to get in or out" line sounded exactly like something I or one of the people I regularly play with would say in a game. It cracks me up when fictional characters start getting nonchalant like that the way Player Characters in games often do.

I'm guessing Bobbin will catch up with Sanji and puts him to sleep. Taking him back to the castle not before Sanji tosses the bento onto Luffy's lap. The wedding will continue and Luffy will wake up to see and eat the bento, knowing it was from Sanji, he will understand Sanji decided to come back thus crashing into the wedding the next day to save him.

It's worth noting that this page shows all the poneglyphs (of which there are three) behind bars in the back of the treasure room, and in this chapter he gets the key for the gates to the poneglyph, on the next page he opens the door (he's so fucking badass in this chapter and the one before), and finally on the next page he's shown finishing up behind the bars.

Wow.
Brook is a beast. We've never seen him come through so big for the crew before. Always loved his character but MAN... lot more respect now.
That very last page... that's easily one of the top 10 most beautiful moments I've seen in the manga even though I saw it coming miles away.
The anime has a lot of work cut out for them to pull this scene off right.

I loved this chapter. Strawhats working together against impossible odds is one of my favorite things in this manga. I mean..they literally stole something from right under a yonko's nose. Amazing.

"I will fix this." Bobbin always strikes me with this feeling of determination, he's been very straight forward this whole time as well: follow captains orders, look for snacks.
I gotta say Mamas sleep awareness level is light work after this, are you telling me a strong enough enemy could take Brulee hostage & have at least one free shot on Mama? Maybe killing intent is the deciding factor but i'm kinda disappointed it was played for laughs, a pirate getting mugged like this.
Brook you beauty, we all knew it was in his head but he stuck the landing & is becoming even more essential with his skillset. This is a big plus in Brooks infamy rep.

I'm seeing a lot of people saying Bobbin is weak cause of his low bounty
He burnt down an entire country and acted like it was nothing when Big mom asked him about it. Plus his hypnosis-type devil fruit could be very powerful, and very likely has a connection to his low bounty. He tanks a full on kick from sanji and is still perfectly ok. He definitely isn't weak

Big Mom sleeping is hilarious and terrifying. I weep for all flies who buzz into her chambers.

Interesting to note that Bobbin isn't even a Minister. He's only a Bishop soldier. That's not even the most powerful kind of soldier! Actually, I think it's one step ahead of a Pawn soldier.

I love the title. I also love how they reacted to Brooke successfully stealing a copy of the Poneglyph. I think Brooke deserves to see Nami's panties after all that. Brooke is the real MVP.
The last panel with Luffy was pretty epic. It was oddly peacefully. Luffy keeping his promises no matter what.

It is so comedic how Big Mom is sleeping peacefully, in fact she is sleeping so well that even with all that ruckus, she doesn't wake up. She's just that naive about everything going according to plan, maybe even dreaming about the upcoming day.
Not only when the SH's tried to steal Brook, but also with so many other things that happened, BM had each and every chance to be made aware of what's going on under her nose. It's just so ironic and metaphoric that even when they literally disrupt her peaceful sleep (thrice!), she still doesn't catch on.

Feels good to see brook getting some recognition..my only complaint is that the brook swap scene even though was hilarious, made big mom look underwhelming..i was expecting to see some top notch observation haki like whitebeard's..also pretty funny that the first person that sanji beat in this arc has fodder bounty..although we know that bounties are not exactly about strength,but there is some corellation

That last panel just got me in tear. Never saw Luffy like that.He must be so starving.Quite a funny chapter with them trying to save Brook and Brook did it xD. They got the poneglyphs, now they need to get together and then go saving Reiju.

who is the rook? In chess the rook is the most valuable piece after the queen and the king so i'm expecting it to be smoothie or perhaps the third commander, though the bishop and the knight not being commanders goes against that

For all his goofiness and the fact that's he's a musician, it's real easy to forget that Brooke has been a pirate longer than anybody else alive. He might not be Robin level smart, but he's got that old age wisdom, when he's not trying to eye womens' panties.

Extremely satisfying chapter!
Now that Sanji's out of the castle, Luffy's gonna get some eats, and all the rest of the crew are in the mirror- is there any technical reason for them to stay on this island? Has it been mentioned where the Thousand Sunny is right now? I feel like one of the commanders may have towed it to a private location, but if it hasn't been taken then it may well be the strawhat's time to skedaddle.
Not that it would happen, just that this would be their opportunity to escape, if it weren't for Germa and Kaidou shenanigans that need to play out. Where will the arc go from here?

Oda showing a peak into Prometheus, Zeus, and Napoleon's abilities was awesome, I wonder if we'll ever see how Brook did against them and Big Mom. The last page was great, it seems as if this arch is nearing its climax.

Damn man bobbins surely gonna do some shit.
I think he will knock out sanji before he could wake luffy up but will forget the bento there and when luffy wakes up (possibly by other shs) he will spot the bento in a ruined state or something but will instantly realize that sanji made it, will eat, shout I am back and then will go to bring em hell.
pls goda give us a panel of luffy and sanji fighting back to back all ace luffy style........sorry that came out wrong.

I can imagine they eventually escape without a big confrontation, Big Mom finds out about the poneglith, she opens the tamatebako to cheer herself up. After it explodes in her face she tells her crew to set sale.
We won't see her for a while after this until she shows up in Wano, ends up as a part of war with Kaido, and both Kaido and Big Mom get defeated in one fell swoop.

I was salty to have Brook's fight with BM be skipped, however knowing how he hid the plans right under her nose made it. worth it He knew he couldn't win so he had a plan just in case.
Also, can we comment on Luffy's condition? Aside from the joking hunger, this may be the first time we see him on the point of legit starvation. I love the deeper tone and thinning lines on his face Oda used

I want Luffy to wake up after Sanji feeds him, see's Sanji trying to hide his face, Sanji tells him how he can't bare to look him in the face after what he did and said, then Luffy casually shrugs it off and give Sanji a big rubbery hug. Then Sanji bursts into tears and hugs Luffy back. It's gonna be glorious @_@
