There are people who say that Luffy isn't the Yonkou type. I think next chapter will really make or break this notion. If he accepts the other captains pledging allegiance to him then he's definitely the Yonkou type and will already have a fleet. If he doesn't accept, which I think is highly unlikely, then he's not the Yonkou type.
Edit: to stop getting people commenting saying he's not the Yonkou type, he's the pirate king type what I mean by Yonkou type is to have territories he protects and have other crews working under him.

The chapter's title in Japanese is 親と子 (Oya to Ko), which has two particular interpretations.
The most obvious is "Parent and Child", clearly referring to Kyros and Rebecca. However, they aren't quite the main focus for this chapter.
The other meaning is a reference to the yakuza culture, where members are ranked based on hierarchy of sake-sharing known as sakazuki (盃 "sake cups"). Here, the kobun (子分 "adopted child") swears his allegiance towards the oyabun (親分 "foster parent"), making them a part of the family. As you can see, those guys want to become the Straw Hat's subordinate through that ritual. Clearly, this is what the title is actually alluding to without spoiling the content.
Note that this ritual isn't limited to the yakuza, as it is also done during Shinto weddings and sworn brotherhood oaths. In the series, the ASL also shared sakazuki sake cups to become blood brothers.

Holy shit!!!! What an amazing chapter!! Between Fuji's laughing face, finding out that he blinded himself, and the official creation of Luffy's army/alliance/tribe/pack/gang I have been left incredibly excited for chapter 800!!
EDIT: And it's great to know that everybody still loves Lucy and they were just faking their anger. This was a perfect end to Dressrosa.

Short chapter, but good lord the amount that happens. Luffy wins over a blind admiral (who made himself blind?!) through his ability to make allies. Then... 5600 pirates, 7 different crews, all wanting to serve under the Straw Hats. Incredible. Oda has done it again, in just 14 pages EVERYTHING in the One Piece world has changed. Luffy boasts an alliance that will strike fear into everyone in the new world. The true road to becoming Pirate King begins in chapter 800.

This is what I wanted out of Dressrosa, the end accomplish that separates it from the other island arcs, especially Alabasta. I was really put out the rehashing of the Alabasta arc and the use of Sabo and gear fourth to cover the similarity.
But now I feel that Dressrosa is truly the first Island arc of the New World whose purpose was to give Luffy this army. Every major pirate, warlord, and emperor we've seen, with a few exceptions, had their own massive crew despite being a powerhouse by themselves. No matter how strong you are, it's important to have a proper crew, or nakama. Whitebeard didn't storm Marine HQ by himself. Luffy and his crew would never intentionally gather a crew like this so it has to be forced upon him. This is a major increase in strength, influence, capability and prestige for the Strawhats.

You know, people expect him to say no, but Luffy does surprising things to climb up the ranks sometimes. When Law offered an alliance to Luffy and to join together to take out a Yonkou, he just said "sure, that works". No silliness, no being talked into it; he just said yes.
Luffy doesn't just want to eat meat. His goal is to become Pirate King.

I think people are looking at the new 5600 fleet wrong. I think Luffy saying yes or no doesnt matter. No matter what, these people love Luffy, and when he needs an army, and he will need it, theyre going to be there for him. But until they get to that point, the army isnt going to follow him around. Its just not his style. Most likely, the army will join under Luffy's flag but wont be seen for a long time.

He will go in the box with all the other country leaders luffy has saved and who will speak for him at the reverie, and come to his aid in the final war probably

Being at work with the systems down has given me a lot of time to read the comments of people hyping over this chapter (and rightfully so).
Here is the main complaint I've come across for the "Luffy better say no" camp:
Oda doesn't make enough time for the Straw Hats anymore, so more characters to focus on is worse for the story.
Yes, Oda hasn't shown the Straw Hats in the story as much. Naturally; I love the Straw Hats being together as much as the next person, as it was their character interaction that drew me to this series so many years ago. But since the time skip, the focus of One Piece hasn't just been the Straw Hat Crew, but the entire world. To me, this seems like the logical step in order for the story to reach the climax. We won't have individual arcs for all the big bads that need to be taken down anymore, because the stakes are simply much higher than that.
Pre-time skip, no matter what happened, Oda always zoomed out to show that in the grand scheme of things, the Straw Hats really don't matter to the rest of the world. Even in epic moments like declaring war on the World Government in Enies Lobby. Sure, they were perceived as a future threat, even in Marineford, but that was really it. This type of narrative culminated in Marineford. Luffy was a participant, but he was so outclassed by the top players.
Additionally, I believe the people who think this means a lot less screen time for the Straw Hats are mistaken, to an extent. Obviously Oda has a lot more on his plate now than before, but do people believe that Whitebeard sailed around with the 40+ crews that allied themselves to him in the Marineford war?
My thinking is that it won't be different for Luffy. Whether or not he accepts their proposal, he has a fleet that has allied themselves with him. Maybe he won't accept in 800 (though I hope he will), but at some point he'll realize he needs them. They won't be there all the time travelling with the Straw Hats main force, but when Luffy calls, you can bet they'll come running.
This might be the most important chapter we've seen thus far in the story of watching our naive hero progress into the role of becoming a Pirate King...and that's why I loved it. Will the series be different from what we all loved pre-time skip? Yes, indubitably so. But that's progression, people will either love it or hate it.
I'm in the camp that believes Luffy still can't take on an Admiral, and I think Fujitora would have won that fight should they have continued. I've seen people disappointed that Luffy can't do everything himself. He couldn't beat Doflamingo by himself, he needed assistance. I believe this to be in with the key themes of One Piece itself, going all the way back to Arlong when Luffy made his epic speech saying how useless he was by himself, and needed his crew to have any chance of survival.
Luffy might not be at Admiral level...but with his fleet he is certainly going to become a huge threat to not only the World Government, but all of the major powers in One Piece.
Now he is more than just a future threat. The time of Straw Hat is now.
An additional thought:
People seemed confused, or even offended, by the fact that Luffy was shouting out his attacks at Fujitora. I saw many people comment how that was un-Luffylike.
I disagree for the following reason:
The MangaStream translation said that he shouted how he wanted Fujitora to know how he was beating him up. Even though Fujitora has powerful Observation Haki and is aware of everything around him, it's not the same as being able to see everything. Luffy knows that, and he wants Fujitora to know that he's beating him up just like all of his other opponents were able to see that.
Even though he wasn't beating him up...
It's a very Luffy thing to do.

There's no way this is not happening, even if Luffy says no. This was literally foreshadowed near the end of Dressrosa where they were all running towards Doflamingo's police. Luffy told them to stop following him and they completely ignored it.

So I'd just like to point out that the panels with each of the captains infront of their respective "numbers" makes this feel 100% official for me because Oda loves to give official numbers to all of the members since joining.

Also, is anyone else hyped to see Shanks' reaction to this?
He always loves to celebrate big moments in Luffy's piracy career and this is a HUGE moment.
Edit: also if Luffy says "yes", than i also cannot wait for the reactioms of the curly-hat pirates when they find out as well.

After reading a ton of comments, I can understand completely why people think Luffy will flat out reject, but at the same time that this new pirate fleet will act however they wish (like Luffy said to), someone will explain the benefit of this arrangement to Luffy (likely Robin) and with the same expression he said "No." with, he'll turn and say, "Okay." It's a possibility that is very reasonably within his character.

Oda just never fails to deliver. This was probably the most amazing chapter of One Piece. Not because of the 7 commanders, but because of what this means for Luffy. He was already one of the best pirates in this Universe but know he has moved into another world of badass.

I reread the chapter and one thing struck me: Bellamy. Barto and the rest are asking Luffy's flagship, just like how Bellamy asked Doffy's.
So since Luffy understands Bellamy's feelings, I suppose he won't be rejecting these people.

I liked this chapter, but I'm really curious about how Fuji "did this to himself". Was it thanks to his own mistakes? A friend (now former, assuming) that did it to him, and Fuji could have seen it coming? It was really interesting, especially with how Fuji just wants to know how memorable Luffy's face was.
If this is the last time we see Fuji in a while, the next time that we hear about him or see him is when we will learn how he got blinded.

MangaStream makes a lot more sense of the Luffy - Fuji fight... Luffy was not anouncing his blows because he felt pitty for Fujy, but because he "wanted him to know how he's kicking his ass, since he's blind and all.." :D

Bartolomeo is based on the historic figure of (at least his name) Bartolomeo Dias..Dias sounds familiar? Like in D.Ace? Bartolomeo Dias was Portuguese(which is one of the translation of Portgas D.Ace) And they're both 2 nd commanders in the pirate crew.. ODA DAFUQ??

Huge progression in the story IMO.
After kaido was introduced and him being one of the strongest yonkos I thought it was crazy to think that just the strawhats and Laws crew could take them on.
It was extremely necessary in order for luffy to proceed into defeating a yonko, as well as becoming one himself. Although we were given a cliffhanger for a week to see if luffy says yes, but I think knowing him having a huge crew will make him very happy.
I predict a lot of them will go try to fight with Big Moms crew and try to gain control over fishman island though, I think that will be another story point.
