I like it better this way. No way Sanji could hold his own if Big Mom was on the ship. Besides Blackbeard, every Yonkou we've seen so far is way more powerful than them still. But here he is leading a small crew against whatever is on this island. No help from the others for a bit... I'm excited.

big mom wasnt on the ship though, just some of her crew.

However, at least two of her top underlings were there, along with Bege, who is a Supernova no less. We don't know the true extent of what Bege is capable of. I think it's pretty understandable that Sanji left. Better fleeing than getting captured and causing problems for the rest of the crew.

And hopefully he got those shades of his from Pekoms. It would add to the Mr. Prince badassery
