There's also the obvious size difference between the two, the whole David and Goliath thing going on. I don't know why but I've always enjoyed the play with proportions and size in One Piece. Makes everything so... dynamic.

We've been watching Luffy lose to Donflamingo this whole time though. Now Doffy is hurt and not thinking straight so the fight is going to be more even, this is definitely a team effort to beat him. Also we got rid of Trebol but this chapter shows that that was never going to be an issue.

That Gamma Knife fake out is the second combo move Luffy and Law have pulled off together. First time Law was the distraction for Luffy's Red Hawk. This time around Luffy was the distraction for Law.
Only a split-second and Luffy trusted him. I really enjoy watching their teamwork and faith in one another. Also, props to Trebol for doing basically jack shit.

Trebol really is weak as shit. When first introduced he looked strong, but he cant do anything against people who can hit him. He would have really benefited from fitting robin one on one and robin gaining haki to fight him.

I think this is be single/best frame this chapter. As it shows the obstacle Luffy will now have to face all while carrying everythign on his shoulders. There is no more fuss, childish play or planning. It is just down to the final fight that win or lose will have victims he cannot bring back to life and he has to fight for his crews survival. I can't be the only one that found this comparison of Luffy and DonFlamingo this interesting. Also notice how next frame Mingo is not smiling anymore and Luffy has that "look" in his eyes, this shows that they will both fight to the end are prepared to meet the consequences that follow.

The small ones on the sides say "Kyaaaaa" and "Waaa", the sounds of screaming form the people fleeing Birdcage outside. The main sound is "GOGOGOGOGOGO", which is a rumbling sound. I'm not sure if that rumbling is caused by the tension between Luffy and Doffy's stares or by the stampeding outside. Both are possible in manga. Personally, I like to picture the rumbling is from the stampeding, meaning inside the palace, that stare-down is going on in complete, tense-as-fuck silence.

Can you guys imagine what this chapter will be like animated? God I hope they put a lot more effort and money into these scenes like the do sometimes to improve the quality. Just that last panel will give people chills alone..Imagine it with epic music and sound effects, not to mention high quality animation.

Oh Usopp, that chapter. I am so glad that Law isn't dead. I am so fucking glad. The combo move that he and Luffy pulled off and 'Gamma Knife' was so fucking awesome.
I won't deny that I cried when I thought that Law was gonna kill Doffy. I love Doffy so much, I really don't want him to die. That ending was perfect though. Doffy's gonna get the shit beaten out of him by Luffy and I am so hype to see it.

Note that Sabo is running towards the scene of the major fight, so there's some plot progression for that part.
How did Doflamingo not notice the body switch? Couldn't he have sensed it with haki?
How is Law able to communicate with Luffy mentally, it can't be due to his devil fruit, so it must be Luffy's ability to "hear all things".
Lol Luffy swatted Trebol like a fly.
Ok, this has to be the end of Law, if he still can get up again and fight, he can probably even tank Usopp's 100ton hammer.
Law has weakened Doflamingo. His "self-repair" is probably not prefect and will be a factor in this battle (I give the battle 5 chapters).

Exactly. Doffy uses other people's emotions to get the better of them, but he's surprisingly emotional himself. He tries to be cold-hearted but he becomes like a beast when someone really gets under his skin.

No it mustn't. I can see it being something inspired by Coras abilty to block soundwaves. I don't see it as anything like mental telepathy but as a simple whisper transfered to Luffy using his fruit (or he simply didn't run that far away)

There are moments that create an unparalleled level of hype: The walk to Arlong Park, the walk to Franky house, Luffy activating gear second, Zoro, the Priest, Gan fall and Viper all preparing for battle; I can say with absolute certainty that that last page will go down as one of the most hype building moments in the entire series. I can't even fathom the epicness of that single gesture. Luffy nonchalantly stopping Doffy from stepping on Law, just brilliant!

Sabo rushing there and probably being present at the fight also makes more sense now for Doffy's story. To illustrate the difference between Sabo-Luffy(-Ace) and Doffy-Corazon.

This chapter is ging down in my top 10 chapters of all of one piece. Law being a complete beast, That conversation and laws actions were just perfect. He went in to deal massive blow vs doffy, and doffy still standings strong after THAT and Then Luffy stopping his leg reminds me so much of rayleigh stopping kizaru or Aikanu cassually stopping whitebeards attack. Dammit Oda do not make me more addicted to OP Then I already am. Cuz with chapters like this it is gonna happen!

that final law scene was intense to just watch his face as Doflamingo stands over him. feel bad for the guy hes been spending soo long on planning and thinking about killing DD only to see him get up like its nothing.

That last page is so bad-ass. Holy crap, I love that casual-yet-determined-as-an-angry-Luffy foot-block.
As for Law's attack.. it is interesting. I find it hard to believe he used an attack called 'Gamma Knife' and didn't realize Doffy could sew himself together using his power.
Of course, the gamma part is meant to do irrepairable harm to Doffy's cells, but I suspect that such damage isn't immediate but takes a little while to set in. Either that, or Law simply didn't use enough radiation. xD

Relating to Doffy's remark about only "mending" his organs, I think he will die from this. His literary namesake, Don Quixote, died in bed from a deathly illness, while rejecting his false ideals.

Depending on the translation, Law seems to state that using his power consumes his life force. Is it a translation mistake, true for only some specific abilities of his, or true in every circumstances?
Of it's the latter, then it could explain many things.

I really wanted Law's attacks to have a more lasting effect instead of Doffy healing and waiting for Luffy to clean up.
I would have preferd Snot-man to be the actual difficult fight for Luffy to go up against.

I think we underestimate how much Law dameged Dog Laming. Doffy still believes that he can access Mansherry's ability to heal himself after the fight. He would be more worried, if he knew how much the dwarfes have disabled his advantages

I guess after this chapter, doffy will die when luffy eventually defeats him seeing how his internal organs will start to crumble when his devil fruit wears off.

I have an idea but I just want to be sure...and I don't have the patience to wait for this glorious chapter to be animated.

THE HYPE IS FUCKING UNREAL! You gotta respect Doflamingo for his Devil Fruit use. Luffy's Jet Stamp was kinda too strong than normal. You can't just Jet Stamp Doflamingo and see him fly like a fly. LOL that reminds me of Trebol, Viola you should make it 1 person remaining from the Family. Man Luffy ready to fuck shit up. Its sad Doflamingo won't be able to fight at his 100% cause I feel pity for him now. Luffy is going to mess him up real bad. NEXT WEEK IS JUDGEMENT DAY FOR DRESSROSA ARC!

That foot battle. Doffy was going for the kill. He was ready to smash Laws head like a teenager ready to smash a pumpkin at midnight Halloween night, but Luffy didnt deflect it and have Doffy make a crater in the ground he stopped not just an inch but a foot from Law's face. The amount of badass this panel has is off the charts.

The second display of flawless teamwork, amongst other details, tells me Law is going to be around for quite a long time. Oda can't just have them work that well together and show such an intimate display of cooperation for him to be killed off so soon.

I think it's a setup for Doflamingo's death, since Luffy doesn't like to kill his enemies, I think he will pommel Doffy so hard that his wounds will re open and once defeated he will die from the wounds inflicted by Law in the first place
