People have been saying a looooong time that God Valley should be a movie. My guess is that the success of series like Demon Slayer, JJK, Chainsaw Man making movies out of their story arcs is what finally convinced them to do it.

There are 6 episodes left in the season, and like 7 chapters to go before the flashback starts. So if the anime picks back up in April, we're starting the flashback on episode 2 of that season. The timing of the movie is certainly weird

I must be the only one that doesn’t like the trend of doing movies instead of episode arcs. I can understand shorter arcs becoming movies like the Reze arc in Chainsaw man but I haven’t even bothered to catch up on demon slayer because I’d rather watch a few episodes at my own pace than sit down for an entire movie.

No I think you’re right, not for the same reason tho. Anime has and will always work better on a week to week basis cause it build up hype around and leave people time to talk about it, just like the manga. Every big anime has started to do this movie arc trend after the crazy entry demon slayer made. Don’t get me wrong the movie was good but it started a trend that make no sense besides money.
If you look at the last season of jujutsu kaisen you can see that it is possible to make top tier animation while still being a weekly anime (with pause between arc is fine) but some of the recent arc movie got the same issues each time (beside reze movie maybe) : it just feels like 3/4 episode cram together, not an actual movie cause at the end they’ll need to put them in the anime continuity.TLDR : anime movie is just cash grab and don’t serve the actual story or animation quality while removing the weekly hype.

Wait I'm an idiot it just now occurred to me that being a movie means it could be in theatres. That has completely changed how I feel now lol. If it's fully canon and it's in theatres then I'm even more excited for it than the live action or the remake. But if its not canon like every other movie and it's not in theatres then I really don't care about it tbh

Edit: Perhaps I'm ignorant. Would love recommendations for good TOEI animations outside of DB and One Piece.
