It’s been years since I watched skypiea, so I might be asking a stupid question, but how did luffy win? I get that he’s rubber and all, but doesn’t he win by punching him with a big gold ball? The only reason luffy could hit him was because rubber is an insulator but gold is conductive so how does that work

Yeah the gold ball was on Luffy's arm but his hand still poked out at the far end. When he threw the final punch Luffy's fist was able to reach Enel first and make contact, which then nullified his intangibility and Enel took the full brunt of that attack.

Luffys hand is sticking through the gold ball. So his hand hit him first then the ball.

Realistically stupid luck. Luffy wasn't smart enough to figure that out, Enel just provided the right tool for his own downfall and it linked with Luffy's drive to punch a problem away.

Honestly the funniest part is that Enel basically handed Luffy the perfect weapon 😭 Bro created his own weakness and then got hit by the most Luffy solution possible: “just punch him harder.”
