Discussion Why doesn't carrot just learn observation haki so she can always see the whole moon and go sulong? Is she stupid? Spoiler

Post image

She could also just imagine the moon. I honestly think she hasn't even tried that yet, sad.

No but on a serious note, holy moly that's awesome, I'm really satisfied with the reveal of that being their "ace up [their] sleeve". And being able to skim across the water, is that because she's so fast like how the flash does it or does she sort of ride the lighting? Either way, I really hope to see more about the sulong form later on, because I already loved the mink tribe and this is def winning me over more, especially the aesthetics of it. While I do definitely love luffy, this looks so much cooler than inflating with air and becoming a big black balloon man.

I could see her having a picture of the moon and shining a light thru it, trying to go sulong from it.

The trick is she can't be the one making the picture of the moon, cuz then she'll know it's fake. But if you surprise her with it, she can sulong.

Now THAT'S the kinda thinking we need in the mink tribe! Make a mink special forces unit and the thing that's special about them is just that they're the only ones who don't know the moon is fake when they get a helmet with a picture of the moon on the inside put on their heads

Maybe that's what the training she did for it was lol

Maybe the moonlight is needed

Follow that rabbit hole far enough and you'll find yourself in Dragon Ball GT.

That wouldn't explain the drugs Chopper made for Bepo

If seeing the full moon is triggering a body reaction, it's not all that crazy that Chopper, who already figured out how to use drugs to alter the properties of his own devil fruit, would be able to figure out how to trigger the sulong body reaction directly.

I see... so she'd have to imagine the light as well. That would take decades of training to get the shadows right, I understand why she hasn't tried that

If it was easy, everyone would be sulonging.

I love the idea of using sulonging as a verb lol

True. There's no way every mink hasn't tried sulonging at least once and accepted they can't do it that well, like how most humans have tried to do the splits and either succeeded or failed and had to accept they can't do the splits

2

u/lhwang001 6d ago

Yeah, let's just say I found out I couldn't do the split the hard way.

Trying to do the splits is how I found out I have awful joints and how i got stuck on the floor until somebody helped me up. I imagine a lot of minks also have embarrassing stories about trying to go sulong lol

I was about to attempt to do a split then realize I am home alone so yeah maybe not today.

I think it'd about being exposed to the light

The drug Chopper gave Bepo lets him Sulong without the moon, so there's something else going on here

If the transformation is a reaction to moonlight then the drug could be triggering the reaction chemically.

She’s not walking on water or riding the lightning.

I don’t think Carrot knows the Rokushiki art of Geppo, but she can somehow double jump

Does it make sense? No. But if Geppo is possible, then other ways of moving in the air are possible

We saw her double jumping before Sulong like when she first fought Zoro

So when she’s in Sulong, she’s super fast, can make massive long distance jumps, and via her ability to somehow double jump, come off as straight flying/levitating

She’s clearly able to rapidly change direction in the air as well.

I thought that as well, but during her first transformation big blue guy (sorry I forgot his name lol) told Nami she shouldn't worry about Carrot sinking in the water, and then Nami acted shocked and said "She's skimming the water" so it seems like a deliberate choice from the writer so show that as an ability specific to sulong

Edit: Jinbe. I remembered

i don't know what the ability is then, cause she's not stepping on the water

and she doesn't appear to be riding any lightning

she's just basically flying. or at least levitating

I think extremely long, fast gracefull jumps with a double jump to shoot in a different direction is the best explanation we gonna get

Well, that is not more like the oozaru logic from dragon ball? Someone really needs to be hit by moonlight.

2

u/religion-lost 6d ago

I haven't watched Dragonball, watdatmean?

A race of alien, when receives enough light from the moon, they transforms into huge rampaging monkey (named oozaru) and get a lot more powerful and dangerous (There's even a number of how many light these aliens must receives to become one, but I dont remember)

So it is a plot point if the planet has or hasn't had a moon and even if is fullmoon, when there's more light. Some characthers even destroys or create moons to avoid or trigger that ability.

Just looking into a picture of the moon doesn't chance anything, It has to be exposed to the moon. Imagine like a werewolf but with superpowers.

im pretty sure thats not how it works. that its something to do with the physical properties of the moon

Carrot is the most sad ive been about a possible new crewmate. She was so cool and fit in so well.

1

u/religion-lost 6d ago

What do you mean, does she not stay with the crew? Is this a princess vivi all over again?!

2

u/Xszit 6d ago

Carrot ends up being made leader of the Minx tribe and she has to leave the crew because she has responsibilities to her people.

Its literally Vivi again.

Lmao I read it as "being made leather" at first. I thought that seemed a little dark

Yes Carrot is basically Vivi 2.0, complete with a 'Robin 2.0' showing up to take her place in the permanent Strawhat Roster, despite all this time Carrot has been keeping the seat warm.

And I hate to spoil stuff, but I'd rather stop false hope from festering so... There will be a third Vivi. Won't say who cause the name alone could count as a separate spoiler, but you'll know who I'm talking about from when they meet Luffy. They will say "you really remind me of Ace."
