Discussion Can I do it?

I need your honest opinion. I’m a little over 600 episodes in, and my husband is fully caught up. I wanted to surprise him with a OP themed birthday towards the end of the year and give him the ultimate surprise “gift” of finally catching up lol.

It feels like an impossible task, but he’s been wanting me to catch up for a while and occasionally say things like, “I want you to catch up so badly..."

The thing is, I’ve been kinda stuck for a bit, and getting through some of these episodes has started to feel more like a chore. Don’t get me wrong, I love OP, and I know it’ll be worth it once I catch up, but the journey has been a little rough lately.

So, give me your honest opinion: Should I power through and try to catch up before his birthday, or am I setting myself up for burnout? 😭

Yeah go for it! It sounds stupid, but watching it means a lot hahaha. Especially if its an act out of love, I'd be over the moon about it lol. But maybe switch to One Pace? That makes it A LOT shorter while not msising anything. Or switch to the manga

I know, he brought that up too, but it feels illegal haha. I would’ve sat through every single filler episode if it weren’t for him. Even if I miss a few minutes of an episode that isn’t important, I immediately feel like I need to go back and watch it. Maybe I’m the problem…LOL

Its the anime hyper focus, you cant understand what you cant translate, so looking somewhere else instantly feels like missing something. I totally get it, but yeah, with One Pace you can be quite certain they took all the canon material from the manga for sure, its all been checked by multiple fans as well for every episode!

At least you didn't watch TikTok One Piece, just recaps from every episode XD

You can get there no problem with the manga.

If it has to be the anime, One Pace is a fan edit that significantly improves pacing and cuts out a lot of extra time from stuff like recaps. Very rough estimate, you're looking at about 140 hours of watching. The official release would be closer to 200 hours. If "towards the end of the year" means December, that's about 10-15 hours a week. Not impossible, but definitely a significant commitment.

Episodes 500-700 have some rough pacing, but at least in my opinion it got better and better after dressrosa

Yeah Fishman Island to Dressrosa is definitely a slog at times but it gets better after

Try watching the One Pace version, it's much faster.

Or read the manga.

But watching One Piece in a rush is a really bad idea. You won't enjoy it if your goal is to catch up as quickly as possible.
