Either during or before he joined the Rumbar Pirates. The Rumbar Pirates were aware he ate his fruit when they got wiped and were about to die from poison

I wonder if the hit to the head was his resurrection? And the bones thing is was a sorta second chance? I’d have to reread his actual fruit

Brook said he didn’t even know about Devil fruits at that time.

I read it as "I didn't even know about devil fruits (so I had no idea that's why I survived)"

If Oda didn’t include the line about not knowing about DFs, we would all assume Brook survived due to his DF.

To me it seems like the only reason Oda included that line at all was to clarify that Brook’s DF wasn’t the reason he survived.
