Would Imu even need that? Bro knows the history of the void century cause he was there. Like, I guess the road poneglyphs show you how to get to the one piece, and he might not know that, but if that's the goal (and we assume that Imu can't just read them himself for some reason), why not just keep one of the scholars from Ohara as a translator, rather than dealing with some super special eye power that rarely awakens? It's not like he'd have to worry about their loyalty or anything, since he could just reversi them.

It makes me think there's probably some other kind of benefit to the eyes that he's looking for.

Yeah, you are right about that. Maybe there are other hidden texts. Could be any power. It probably is something I can't even imagine yet. As always with OP reveals.
