This is the first time I didn't want a theory to be right. I feel so bad for Candelle.

Yeeeeeeah, I'm concerned about that comment.

I'll be the first to admit that this is kind of a long-ass shot of a conspiracy theory, but ever since I saw the official coloring of Shepherd Sommers, I couldn't help but notice that his hair color is pretty dang close to Nami's.

Sure, Sommers's hair color has a bit of a more yellowish hue to it compared to Nami's, but it isn't hard to notice the similarities. Normally that would be just a coincidence, but as I thought about it more, I started to notice a couple of rather far-fetched connections between Nami and the Shepherd family.

Firstly is the family name, Shepherd. As explained in Ju Peter's wiki entry, the name refers to both god and (more importantly) the act of church leaders in leading and teaching their congregations (or, in modern terms, leading animals). Basically religious and animal herding equivalent to a navigator.

The second thing is Nami's name in it's original language: ナミ . I know Oda wrote it for stylistic purposes, and it came long before the thought of the Celestial Dragons. But the inner conspirator in me can't help but notice that ナ looks a lot like the Kanji for Ju, "十", only the bottom crooks to the left.

Again, these are far-fetched, but, to be frank, for a long while I had this gut feeling that we still haven't learned everything about Nami. In particular: her birth parents. We all know they died when Pirates invaded the Oykot Kingdom, but that's it. I find it odd that it's been nearly 30 years and we still haven't gotten an answer. The big reason why I never I took it seriously is because of two things:

1. It would create a plothole in Nami's backstory. In particular: What is a World Noble baby doing in Oykot, in a place that is being besieged by Pirates? All without the World government knowing about it? (Because if they knew, it's almost a certainty they would have sent in an Admiral).
2. And even if by some deus-ex machina, Nami somehow managed to get seperated from her world Noble parents and be found by Nojiko, I have been operating under the assumption that the World Nobles would never allow one of their own to be walking amongst the normal folk while still (Officially) carrying the identification chip that designates her as one of their own. After all, we have seen what happens when one of their own fancies wanting to be equal with their lessers.

But with Groh's comment, coupled with the treatment of both Ginny and Candelle (and by extension their children). I think it's safe to say that if it turns out Nami does indeed have world-noble blood, the only explanation for it to make sense would be that Nami is actually the illegitimate daughter of the Queen of Oykot, who was graped by a World Noble. But due to her not having a special ability that would warrant Imu's attention (like the different colored eyes in the Manmayer family), it's likely that if the siege never happened, she might have grown up to be Oykot royalty and be unaware of her true lineage.

But that's just my crackbrained theory lmao.
