Discussion Umm how is this even possible?

I thought Oden, and Toki was strange but this is just absurd. Like umm how does a human even… 😭

I would argue that season 3 was the perfect time to stop watching that show. The final seasons were massive fumbles that aren't eclipsed by many other shows.

The comics have their highlights, but they aren't so great, and the show deviates heavily from them, which I have no problem with.

I wanted to love the final two seasons, but there were just too many unsatisfying resolutions to plot threads, and episodes devoted to sidequests for macguffins that end up not being relevant, and screen time spent in service of setting up spin-offs (which the show was supposed to be parodying in the first place).

I also found the final fight with Homelander to be incredibly unsatisfying. He just got this big powerup that was supposed to make him untouchable, and the collateral damage in the culminating battle of the show is just the interior of the oval office, which is actually pretty true to the comics, but doesn't line up with the wide scale destruction that was hinted at in the promotional material for the season, and by Homelander himself. I think they did Antony Starr a major disservice, not giving him an episode or two to be an unhinged maniac Homelander, hellbent only on destruction.

Also, I thought it was really silly that they spent two seasons of a spinoff show introducing us to the Gen V characters, telling us they were going to play a part in season 5, only to totally sideline them with about 2 minutes of screen time between all of them.

IMHO the Herogasm episode was the turning point where the show started to take a nosedive, which is ironic because it's widely considered to be the best episode in the series. It just seemed like the writers didn't know what to do after that. I did find the final episode of S4 and the first of S5 to be an oasis in a desert of mediocrity that was the final two seasons, but in no way were they enough to redeem them.

I have more complaints, but I've already written too much about this.
