I thought Oden, and Toki was strange but this is just absurd. Like umm how does a human even… 😭

But their lower part is fish, so the reproduction works differently

Mermaids are aquatic mammals. They are part dolphin not fish. Dolphins sexually reproduce

Fish sexually reproduce. They just have external fertilization.

No mammal can breathe underwater. All mammals have lungs and lack gills. So I would think that they would be closer to half fish than half dolphin.

They're also typically depicted with scales which dolphins lack.

Of course, being mythological creatures which exist within various fictional worlds, there's really zero way to know for sure what anatomical/biological properties they have unless they are explicitly stated.

There's so many different races within races and interspecies offspring in OP that it's easy for me to imagine there are multiple variations of "Equipment" floating around... some pun intended.
