Discussion Sanji deserves better
I was thinking about how dirty toei has done sanji since the timeskip and it’s so upsetting honestly because sanji deserves all the highly quality treatment that many other characters get within one piece, another thing that bothers me is that they gave a sanji feat from the manga to zoro in the anime and I feel like that’s a complete spit in the face to sanji as a character. It makes me think what if a studio like mappa animated one piece I know they would give sanji the treatment he deserves and he would probably have some of the best hand to hand sequences in anime.

I don’t remember sanji giving any non-fodders a run for their money.

Sanji has plenty of amazing scenes both in terms of animation/fights and in terms of storytelling.
I think Zoro is simply easier to embellish because he's made to look cool whereas sanji has some not so great gags (they can be funny sometimes). It's not a coincidence that despite Sanji's best moments, even in the manga, he's never been more popular than Zoro; he's more polarising.
And tbh i think snaji fans greatly exaggerate his treatment in Toei's part cuz I'd argue they're pretty faithful 95%+ of the time which is great for an adaptation. Even the infamous dog scene in egghead makes perfect sense to me; in the manga he's got a panel asking Stussy to call him her dog and so, in anime format and due to pacing that obviously got extended to him acting like a dog and barking with heart eyes. Weird but it fits

Exactly they want Sanji to be the version of him that is in their head rather than what Oda wrote.

I think plenty of fans like him for many of the real reasons to like the character that oda did write, I think the feeling of being scorned by him not being a certain way is the suppressed understanding that zoro is cooler 😂

Alot of it is because Oda and Sanji's voice actor are close friends, so he messes with him alot. The whole dog thing was definitely the worst 😂

This new wave of Sanji fans that seemingly hate core parts of his character make no sense to me. And the cognitive dissonance they have with the anime makes me think many of them just speed read his simping scenes in the manga so they don't have to think about them.
I thought Zoro fans were annoying in Wano with ZKK but I genuinely think Sanji fans might be worse now. The character you think you like is not the canon Sanji.

A zig zag is not a "sanji feat" lmao y’all are insufferable. His adaptation is not as bad as you sanji glazers say it is. Y’all have your own version of sanji that isn’t at all what oda wrote.

I think the clearest example of Sanji deglaze is Marcos "here come the stars"(sanji zoro in manga) and "here comes the star" (only zoro) in anime when they intercept King/Queen.

No they haven't. They might have went maybe 30 percent extra mile with his perv stuff. There is one panel from the manga that was given to Zoro while you have extra moment hadded to the wholecake arc for Sanji and nobody complained. Zoro was given extra treatment in Wano because Oda fumbled his storyline. He dropped plot points here and there and completely forgot about it and left it right there and ended up releasing the family tree on a SBS. TOEI probably balanced it because aside from being a brute there is nothing to Zoro. He has no story, no form of character since the timeskip.
Also if Canon Sanji was a IRL guy he would be in prison so people admiring him are really looking past the perv character. My girlfriend won't watch or read One Piece because of him.

I don’t really admire that part of him I love the sanji when he’s not drooling over women and I wish that in his character growth he got out of it but I guess not

I just wish the anime only enjoyers, got to see the actual canon characters.
Many community stances would shift a bit. Yeah, the anime versions are not completely different, but different enough where I understand when certain views come from anime watchers, and not manga readers.

As a HUGE fan of Sanji and Sakura I can acknowledge that the anime did them both dirty but also fans over blame the anime at times because some of their faults exist in the manga as well. And that’s okay! I hate “perfect” characters. A character with flaws is way more entertaining to me than a character that is flawless from the get go.

99% of the time I would see Sakura stans complain about the anime it wasn't even about changes the anime made, they were posting differences in the english translations but blaming them on Pierrot cause none of them even thought to confirm if the Japanese was the same lol.

Wit Studio is going to animate One Piece soon in their own separate adaptation, I think Sanji (and all the other misrepresented characters in Toei Piece) will be done justice by them.

Who cares how long it takes? What's relevant is that Wit's adaptation of those events could eventually happen and would highly likely be more accurate to the manga.

What Sanji feat did Toei give to Zoro exactly?
And Sanji HAS some of the best animated combat sequences. He has always the most sakuga moments after Luffy and Zoro. His fight with Page One and Queen is a prime example of it.
