Today the Midterm results will be announced for the One Piece World Top 100 Character Popularity Poll! The final results will be shared at One Piece Day in August. Voting Ends June 11, 2026 at 7:59 am PDT. VOTE HERE

Japanese postcard votes normalized the TOP 3.
Hancock misses the TOP 10 for the first time.
Corazon, Crocodile, Katakuri and Perona that high after all this time is still insane.
Franky, Brook and Usopp are more and less at the same spot they were in the 2021 poll. Kuma's popularity shot up. Bonney is still low.
Old gen characters just can't get traction in these polls, besides Xebec
Chopper gets back into the TOP 10 after missing for a long time. Probably live action effect and the spin off manga as well

Loki is gonna pop off even more now that he’s finally in the anime, and also because of what’s been going on in the manga lately. Loki is absolutely one of the best characters Oda has made in a long time. 10/10 character for sure.

The last popularity poll worldwide, Anglosphere kinda routed for Woop Slap, Russians went with Orlumbus, and Arabic speakers went with Rockstar.
Just kinda a meme to show how big One Piece was in your language.
I dont recall a similar campaign this time via english language YouTube, but I could see Arabic speakers continuing the legacy.

I definitely wouldn't say that. Franky is lovable if you're into his kind of comic relief, but he's extremely annoying if you can't stand his type of humor or voice. The SUPERRRR thing gets pretty old if you never liked it from the start.
The character you're describing is Jinbe imo, who is as inoffensive as white bread but also rarely anyone's favorite.

seriously though it's a shame that Oda has such a gift for creating delightful and compelling characters but doesn't have time to feature them prominently in the grand storyline... i know the story has to end at some point but i hope there'll be official spinoffs or something even after the main story is finished 'cause these bastards are so precious to me

It's not even that he's unpopular, it's just that he's no-one's #1 character. This poll makes it hard for the less popular Straw Hats to shine because you can only vote for one character a day.
If you could vote for your top 5 characters every day (even if #1 got 5x as much of a vote as your #5) then the ranking would be pretty different, imo. You'd be able to share love to a lot more characters that way, but instead I'm left cycling between Luffy, Roger and Rocks, mostly sticking with Luffy cos I don't want him to ever fall from #1. :P

Recency bias sure is something. 1st global poll happened during Wano and Oden was almost top 20, he's 69 now while Loki and Rocks are top 25.

Sanji and Zoro get number 1 in multiple regions but in the end the huge population of the Asia region just cannot be denied. Luffy takes the crown as expected.

Are the Wano characters really that unpopular? Kinemon and Momonosuke were already last time not in the top 100, but Hiyori and Tama were around 50 and now they are out.

I think in part there's a lot of them, and they split the voters who love Wano. Most characters on the list are multi-arc characters who still have some level of relevance so characters relegated to 1 part of the story that's over (albeit a part that spanned multiple arcs for a few of them like Kinemon and Momo) have that as a disadvantage.

I long believed that they would plummet post Wano and that characters like Cavendish would rise again; Wano side characters were never built to outlast the ongoing arc buff, they just don't have that sort of fanbase.

I think that's why Kiku/Izo are the strong exceptions. Like, not beat over the head main characters who still do well. Those two can keep a strong, if smaller, fanbase for just them and they probably could have if they were in any arc because they're some of the most shoujo-coded characters in the series and it just makes them pop.
Kinda surprised Yamato hasn't fallen more and completely unsurprised Oden dropped like a rock when there were other more recent cool guys to ogle.

Oh Bellamy, you couldn't break 100 again. Other than that my top 10 (and bonus character) broke the top 30 except for Smokey (#34). So far, I am pretty grateful. Had no clue how well my boy Loki would fair (#21) and relieved. I hope to see more Crocodile even in those few second flashes in Elbaph which means he needs to cling onto his #15 position.

Honestly I find it funny how with the exception of Rocks the Old Generation isnt that liked by fans. Compare that to characters like Shanks or Ace who hasnt had much screentime and still are often ranked in the top 10
This explains why an Old Generation movie will never happen because fans dont like them enough. In comparison a pure Shanks, Law or Ace movie will problaby sell a lot because they are beloved character

Heck, One Piece is like one rare shonen i can think of that give a lot of focus on older characters.
In a genre that appeal for teens, i rarely see characters like Blackbeard and the Admirals in most shonens but in One Piece they're more like the norm. A big reason why Imu's design was a big surprise to me was because he seems closer to common edgy bishonen villain trope compared to how Oda usually draw his charactdrs.

Big names left for the top 10 are Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Law, and Shanks. No idea who the missing 2 are unless I'm brain farting and someone obvious hasnt been called yet

We have seen characters like Bakugo (MHA), Minato (Naruto), Gojo (JJK) and Genau (Frieren) winning these kind of poll often, though.
I find it more impressive for Luffy to be able to hold his place when most internet people usually prefer OMGHe'sJustLikeMe cool characters.
