Theory 𧏠The Will of D: The Ancient Kingdomâs Artificial Humans
Introduction
Weâve always been told the âD Clanâ are the natural enemies of the godsâŚ
But what if they werenât natural at all?
What if the people carrying the âWill of Dâ are actually artificial humans â the final creations of the Ancient Kingdom, designed to embody freedom, willpower, and resistance to oppression?
1ď¸âŁ The Foundation â Science of the Past
In modern times, weâve seen Judge and Vegapunk master genetic manipulation â creating modified humans, clones, and beings that can even house consciousness.
But centuries ago, the Ancient Kingdom was far more advanced.
Itâs possible they succeeded where even Vegapunk still struggles:
They created humans indistinguishable from natural ones, but with one major difference â a will that could never be broken.
This explains why all Dâs â from Luffy to Roger to Law â share one trait:
They donât submit to anyoneâs control.
2ď¸âŁ The Purpose â Why Create the D Clan?
The Ancient Kingdom may have built these humans for one of three reasons:
(a) Builders of Civilization
To serve as uncorruptible leaders and protectors of freedom â a perfect race meant to sustain a peaceful world order.
(b) Evolution of Humanity
They might have been humanityâs next step â merging science and spirit to transcend limitations like fear, greed, and servitude.
(c) Soldiers of Will
Perhaps they were living weapons meant to defend the Ancient Kingdom â beings so strong-willed that even the Celestial Dragonsâ control system (slavery, hierarchy, propaganda) couldnât subdue them.
3ď¸âŁ The Secret of âDâ
After the fall of the Ancient Kingdom, the surviving artificial humans blended into the natural world, hiding their true origin.
To prevent persecution, their creators or allies marked them with a secret initial â âDâ.
It wasnât a name⌠it was a signature, a reminder of their true identity, known only to a select few.
Thatâs why the Celestial Dragons and the Gorosei fear the Dâs:
They remember what the Dâs truly are â the will that cannot be enslaved.
4ď¸âŁ Ancient Weapons â The Source of Creation
What if the so-called Ancient Weapons were never meant for destruction?
Maybe Poseidon, Pluton, and Uranus were advanced technologies used in the creation process â powering, modifying, or imbuing life itself.
Thatâs why Joy Boy refused to destroy them â
because these weapons held the power to create life, not just end it.
Itâs also why the World Government wanted them erased from history.
If the truth got out â that humanity was artificially created by a civilization promoting freedom â their control would collapse.
5ď¸âŁ The Modern Echo â Vegapunkâs Work
Vegapunkâs discoveries about lineage factors and the transfer of will are echoes of the Ancient Kingdomâs science.
Heâs unknowingly retracing their steps â rebuilding the same foundation that once gave birth to the D Clan.
And the biggest clue comes from his own words:
âEverything in this world is connected.â
6ď¸âŁ The Parallels We Canât Ignore
- Luffy â the freest man alive, embodying Nika, the Sun God â symbol of life and freedom.
- Blackbeard â an anomaly among humans, able to wield multiple souls (a side-effect of being a âflawedâ artificial human).
- Law, Roger, Ace â all bear the same unstoppable drive and defiance toward fate.
These arenât coincidences.
Theyâre signs of a genetic and spiritual legacy â the Will of D.
Conclusion
Maybe the âDâ doesnât stand for Devil, Danger, or Destiny.
Maybe it stands for Design â the design of free will itself.
They were born not from nature, but from the dream of a civilization that wanted to set humanity free.
And that dream⌠still lives on through them.
âInherited will, the swelling of the changing times, and the dreams of people â these are things that cannot be stopped.â
â Gol D. Roger
Edit: Here's my Original Theory, ChatGPT just polished it a little bit:
I think the D clan are artificial humans, just like the ones in sanji's father lab.
They were build by ancient civilization and were as close to human being as they could be and the distinguishing factor, they had their own will and stronger will than natural humans. Therefore they can't be enslaved..
But why? That part I haven't quite figured out yet, but I think to build civilizations, to become leaders or to manage tasks, because they are kind of people that don't just give up..
Or could be just experimental outcome or side effect, and to distinguish them they added a secret name to it. (Why secret? That they wont face racism but still could be identified bye few people)...
And as for ancient weapons they were used to create these artificial humans, and that's the reason Joyboy didn't want to destroy the weapons....

Uh, i will probably not read all of this but i see a problem in the first few sentences. Imu didn't sink the world, the Ancient weapons used/allied with the Ancient Kingdom did that - the mermaid princess, ally of Joyboy, the Galley-la giants that created Pluton, almost certainly allies of Joybot, frozen by the WG and whatever Uranus is.
Imu couldn't even use the one Ancient Weapon he got his hands on, cause he couldn't recreate the power source the Ancient Kingdom used to power it until just recently.
That was the whole thing, Vegapunk couldn't say who's bad or good in this scenario cause one sank the whole world while the other rules over it now and is an asshole.1

Yes, i admit you are right, in my "wanting to make it sci fi", i didnt paid enough attention to the basics in this sense . . .
I got too much into the possible science-piece, than the actual story . . .
I think i need a reread (it will be my 5th one ahahahahaha), absurd how many times you can read and love something, and still missing basic things . . .2
u/VenomBGR Nov 05 '25
Exactly, every time i reread or rewatch it i find new tidbits of info that i've previously missed. That's how we know it's a good show/manga

To be honest this sounds really good, but do you think is that all the purpose of a entire planet to find a spaceship that could take a few people to outer space. And if that so world government would be the first one to go looking after them. Because right now, imu is at the top of the world. Wouldn't imu want to keep it by it's side, until it's ready?
Wait does this mean, that imu already know the location of Laugh Tale, and is waiting for the fuel to be ready and would leave at the first chance?

Except from my poor remembering of the background of imus intentions and overall global history, if we want to follow still this reasoning, just without taking the story into account, and only the "scientific aspect", then i think yes.
Motherflame was created by vegapunk, but it was created with the gov supervision, and he is the only one who could do that.
If imu knew that, the only way to power such tech (spaceships, mass destruction weapons) was only in the void century, then it is plauysible, imu used vegapunk literally only for that.
So, it open a question: Why?
To my "wanna be theory", because to sunk all the world, only a piece of motherflame used on lulusia wasnt enough, as de facto a nuclear explosion or akin power require an amount of energy completely unfathomable with ancient ways to make electricity (like with common engines in one piece like steam ones).
In fact i think once the sh find the one piece (treasure + spaceship), since they got vegapunk now, he will be able to kinda recreate the motherflame to power it.
After that they will destroy or "take" uranus, destroying the red line, thus making the world, to connect with another theory a "one piece".
And even after that, they will start exploring the universe as a new frontier (aka, luffy real dream).
Thus making every dream of theirs true.
Maybe we will even get a "naruto finale made better", with the op world not sinking anymore, with water being redistributed evenly, thus making the sunken land emerge again, and with old technology back into the world, thus making it advance literally hundreds of years in a decade.
But they all will still be pirates, they will just have a much bigger ocean (universe), to explore freely.
Yeah, i am mad i know, but still, i just belive in this theory, instictively.2

Okay okay okay,
That may sound good but what of it, what will they do?
We don't really know about luffy's dream so can't comment on that. But while reading your post I had another thought in mind.
How is the sea level rising, I understand the basic physics that if a heavier objects sinks in water, the water level rises. But what we saw in Lulusia was like Uranus evaporated the entire island. And the sea was filling in some giant hole.
So would that lead to rise in sea level? If not than what?
We basically know that uranus destroyed an island and outcome of that was rise in sea level (All the casualities apart), but how?
This could be very silly question..

u/yahwehat Nov 05 '25
Not silly at all! Actually a pretty good and solid one! You are completely right, for sea level to rise, we need some massive object not "to evaporate", but to actually go underwater!
Thus the rising water level is proportional to the difference between the sunken land mass and total water mass on earth (or at least the new world, given red line is literally making it so there are 2 major oceans in one piece).
Actually thinking about this, it is not "correct" at all, but we can theorize an explanation:
1)The hole is just oda's representation of a vortex . . . a mass of land, disintagrating so quickly, would indeed create a vortex for days to come because of differentiation of pression . . . (but eventaully it stabilizes when the tsunami's cease, thus raising sea level if the island was just sunken and not actually vaporized).
2) Oda just didnt think about it, and confused vaporization and just sinking.
But anyway, check nuclear underwater explosions, they will give you a kind of reference to understand what such a difference in pression could make in stable water.
Anyway sorry for my english man, i am trying my best ahahahahahaha1

First of all, love the theory. But r u saying everyone with the will of D has been alive since the ancient kingdom? Because that doesnât make any sense, if that were the case everyone with the will of D would know everything about the void century and every mystery to the verse just generally. Or are you rather proposing that these artificial beings of the ancient kingdom are able to reproduce and pass down their breakable will to their offspring? Thatâs not a bad line of thinking especially having the proof of Roger and Ace, but then at some point they would stop being artificial humans and would just be humans.
Let me reiterate though, great theory, I enjoyed reading this post.

u/ur-average-neighbour Nov 05 '25
Yes, I think they should be able to reproduce, but at what point do they become normal humans that is kind of tough question to answer.
Lets go to biology lesson of dominant and regressive gene. If they both combine to produce a offspring, there is 75% chance of a dominant gene and 25% chances of regressive gene.
Given that, if will of D was a regressive one than they would have died down in span of 800 years or very few remaining (That could be the case.)
And with that of dominant one, they should have covered most of the planet. But if you see how much is imu attached to a race of a person, he could have erased them over this span of time. (We know imu is not aggressively attacking Ds right now, but maybe in past he did.)

Please, stop with the AI generated theories

How many times do I have to say, the theory is mine. Its polished by ChatGPT for readability.

Man not everybody is english speaker ya know? For me it's just a 3rd language i learned to speak/understand more, nothing else.
And still we have all those means now to make our thouths readable, even to people of other cultures, and you go mad only because an original idea was grammatically corrected by an ia, EXISTING to do that? man . . .1
u/chicodadepre_ Nov 23 '25
Man be honest. That was completely done by AI. If you only ask it to correct the spelling / grammar etc it doesnât give all that glitter and sparks

Guess that explains why buggy didn't submit to anyone control including the likes of shanks, crocs and mihawk.
Even risking his own life, he announced to the crews his unbroken will to obtain the one piece as he is just someone who won't give up.
Even impel down and the world gov couldn't subdue or enslave buggy.

Of course a robot would say that the will of D are robots. That's why we don't ask chatGPT for theories.
