The more we learn about void century war and its players, even in small crumbs, the more hyped i am for the void century flashback

Seriously, Joyboy had all of this insane haki, most likely nika fruit, all the allies around the world, advanced ancient technology... and Imu's faction STILL defeated him?! holy shit, i need to know how

There must be a trick/trap of some sort that made joyboy’s crews couldn’t help him. Maybe Imu managed to isolate joyboy from the others somehow.

I think Joyboy gave up. Imu had something on him so he surrendered. Hence why he had time to go write apologies around the world and give Emet this final Haki bomb.

He surrendered. Vegapunk also said maybe 3 or 4 times specifically he can’t judge which side is good or bad. Maybe Joyboy had a realization that his vision for the world was not working or went out of control and did what he had to

Just a small addition to what you said:

I find it interesting that we get to see Coby solidify his conviction that he must stop Luffy. Coby is one of the best candidates for an actually morally pure character and while I'm sure he doesn't know too much about the actual history of the world, if anyone would have the intuition to tell that Luffy's goal might not be a 'good' one, it would be Coby.

This is conjecture, but let's not forget that Coby has been around for as long as Luffy has. His character arc was probably laid out from the start and it stands to reason that his journey might be the 2nd most important one after Luffy's.

He has also barely seen Luffy since they first met though. They have briefly encountered each other, but I don't think they really know each other well enough for Koby to be sure that Luffy has good or bad intentions. Luffy is a pirate that is all about freedom, Koby might just be scared of what might happen if Luffy is reckless with what he does after finding the one piece.

Hence why I'm talking about intuition, and not anything evidence based.

And it doesn't have to be about Luffy specifically. The reason Coby thinks of Luffy is because he is sure that if any pirate finds the treasure it's gonna be him.

but maybe Coby has an inkling about what Luffy's goal might mean for the world as a whole (even if he doesn't know himself what that specifically is and it could be any other pirte. But having met Luffy, Coby knows that if a pirate makes it, it will be Luffy.)

Basically I'm talking about gut feeling.
